Thanksgiving

Getting together to smile and celebrate, eating and laughing with people of your choosing, kissing the girls and saying that they are getting more beautiful every day, chatting and bragging a little with the men, reestablishing the old family circle, and living with wholesome and traditional cheer are all examples of how to have a good time.

At the end of the year, just for a little bit.



As we swarm through the door, greetings spread quickly.

And we assemble once more under the outdated roof.

The only difference is that Mother is a little bit grayer than we were when the kids were younger.

Father is getting a little older, but he's still willing to play and laugh.

We are retelling our tales as men and women around the table once more.



We briefly bow our heads in prayer, yet we're grateful and happy to be there.

Both a home in the east and a residence in the west,

At home with the nicest and dearest people.

Out of the charade of the distant cities

We've come here to be who we are for the time being.

Here, we may be honest and open about who we are without worrying about our position, station, or status.



Give me the year's end; it's fun.

when the bulk of the planning and laboring is completed;

Bring every stray back to the nest.

Let's have dinner with the people I cherish most.

Hear the aging voices still singing,

Observe the aged faces free from evil,

Look at the ancient table and the chairs around it.

And I'll include soul in my prayers on Thanksgiving.
