10 Things Every Fresher Should Do Before Entering University 🎓
Getting admission into university is exciting. After all the JAMB stress, seeing that admission message can feel like, “Finally! I have make it.”
But before you resume, there are some things you should sort out so you don't enter school confused.

1. Keep your documents safe
Put your important documents in one folder. Admission letter, O'Level result, birth certificate/declaration of age, passport photographs and any other documents your school requests.
Make photocopies and keep digital copies too.

2. Check your school's requirements
Don't depend only on what someone posted in a WhatsApp group. Check your school's official portal for information about school fees, clearance, registration, accommodation and other requirements.

3. Plan your money
University expenses go beyond school fees. You may need money for food, transport, data, toiletries, handouts and unexpected expenses.
Please don't spend all your money trying to look fresh during your first week.

4. Buy the essentials
You don't need to buy everything in the market.
Start with things you'll actually need: bedsheets, towels, toiletries, bucket, slippers, hangers, padlock, notebooks, pens, school bag and other personal necessities.
Your accommodation should determine what else you need.

5. Know your department
Find out your faculty, department and the courses you'll likely offer. Join legitimate departmental groups if available and pay attention to official announcements.

6. Prepare academically
Don't wait until lectures start before thinking about schoolwork.
Get your basic stationery, organise your study materials and prepare yourself mentally for a different academic environment.

7. Be careful with friendships
You'll meet plenty of people in university, and not everyone you meet has the same goals.
Be friendly, but don't trust people too quickly. Choose friends who encourage you to do better.

8. Learn to manage yourself
Nobody may remind you to attend lectures, submit assignments or study.
University gives you more freedom, but you also have more responsibility.

9. Keep some emergency money
Always try to have a little money that you don't touch unless it's actually necessary.
You never know when you'll suddenly need transport, data or something important.

10. Don't be scared
Your first few weeks may feel confusing. You may get lost, forget where a lecture hall is or even wonder whether you chose the right course.
That's normal.
Ask questions, pay attention and give yourself time to adjust.
To every fresher reading this: congratulations! 🎓
You don't have to know everything before your first day. Just prepare properly, stay responsible and take things one step at a time.
Welcome to university!
