The paper says club bosses have begun to draw up a list of centre-back targets to pursue in the next transfer window. Summer will be Palaces last chance to sell the in-demand 23-year-old for a significant fee, as he enters the final two years of his Palace contract.

Newcastle are in talks to sign Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail. The 25-year-old is set to be out-of-contract in the summer.

i sport says Championship side Hull intend to pursue a permanent deal for on-loan Liverpool winger Fabio Carvalho. However, the club would only make the move if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Thomas Tuchel lives to fight another day in the Bayern Munich dugout following Tuesday night's Champions League victory over Lazio.

The German champions found themselves a goal down heading into the second leg after a dismal 1-0 defeat in Rome, but a 3-0 victory ensured that they will play in the quarter-finals next month.

It was an accomplished performance from the Bavarians, who went into half-time two goals to the good thanks to headers from Harry Kane and Thomas Muller just before the break.

Kane netted again after the interval to secure Bayern's safe passage into the final eight, with the hosts producing a crucial win after a challenging few weeks.

Thomas Muller - 8/10

Bayern's struggles in recent weeks have been visibly distressing for Muller, with the 34-year-old taking matters into his own hands against Lazio. The veteran was at the heart of everything for the hosts at the Allianz, with his clever header capping a superb display.

Muller was characteristically energetic in that attacking midfield role, dovetailing nicely with Kane up against the Lazio centre-backs. His work rate was key in Bayern keeping the visitors penned in, and he rolled back the years with a graceful display.

The German was heavily involved in the final third throughout, bagging a crucial goal at a crucial moment just before the break. Having struck the post as well with a ferocious effort, Muller was a constant threat deep in Lazio territory.

Honourable mention
Harry Kane - 8/10
The England captain exhibited his ruthlessness once again during Lazio's visit to Bavaria, with the forward grabbing two poacher's goals. The first was an instinctive header from eight yards out, with the second a tap in at the far post after Ivan Provedel parried Leroy Sane's effort.

Despite touching the ball fairly infrequently, Kane constantly found himself in just the right spot inside the penalty area - exactly what you need from your talismanic centre-forward.

Bayern Munich's worst player vs Lazio
Eric Dier - 6/10

It was by no means a bad performance from Eric Dier at the Allianz, but the centre-back didn't get too many opportunities to shine on Tuesday evening. He was relatively untested by Lazio's blunt forward line, while his centre-back partner Matthijs de Ligt stood out above him.

The English defender was also guilty of losing Ciro Immobile at the far post with the score level in the first half, with Dier perhaps a tad fortunate that the Italian striker miscued his header. That lapse in concentration could have proved costly.

Mark Robins hails hat-trick hero Ellis Simms after Coventry beat sorry Rotherham

Mark Robins heaped praise on hat-trick hero Ellis Simms after his first-half treble set Coventry on their way to a 5-0 Championship victory over basement boys Rotherham at the CBS Arena.

Simms claimed his second hat-trick in eight days after securing the match ball during the Sky Blues 5-0 win over Maidstone in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Joel Latibeaudiere and Fabio Tavares were also on the scoresheet as Coventry returned to winning ways after defeats in their last two league outings.

Robins, who celebrates his seventh anniversary in charge of Coventry on Wednesday, said: It was a good start. Within the first five minutes, the goalkeeper has dropped one onto Ellis head and it puts us 1-0 up and settles any nerves there may have been.

We blew them away within the first 37 minutes or so, Ellis has scored a hat-trick, Joels (Latibeaudiere) got a header from a cornerEllis is left foot, right foot, header, its the perfect hat-trick.

Hes not scored a hat-trick and now hes got two in a week, gets his second match ball and thats brilliant for him, brilliant for us, brilliant for his confidence.

When he realises his strength hell be absolutely awesome. You can see he can finish with his right and left foot and thats when hes not thinking about things. Hes got incredible pace and incredible strength.

Fabios finish was outstanding, I think Joel was above the crossbar when he headed it. It was just a really good performance and it was much needed.

We needed the three points and to get it in the style and the manner we got it was really pleasing. The clean sheet was a brilliant clean sheet.

Rotherham boss Leam Richardson admitted the Millers first-half display was the worst 45 minutes of his managerial career as his side slumped to their eighth defeat in a row, leaving them 19 points from safety.

Richardson admitted: Theres some pretty embarrassed footballers in that dressing room right now. I will always defend footballers but thats probably the worst 45 minutes that Ive been involved in.

You can accept mistakes. Viks (Johansson) had an outstanding season but you cant stand games like this in the Championship. You cant be soft, conceding three or four goals in the middle of our goal.

Were very aware of the situation were in. Ive been here a number of weeks and it became clear very quickly the amount of challenges weve got at the football club, where weve got to move it forward.

Ill always back myself to move football clubs forward because Ive done it in the past and Ive got a really strong record.

At this level, youve got to be really careful you dont open yourself up to nights like this because the level is too big and if were not 100 per cent we will find ourselves on the back of things like this.

Its the first time that Ive experienced it in my time at the club. I can make excuses for everybody but Ill take the full blame for it.

Ill take it on my shoulders because Im the man at the front of it and Im the man who puts them out there.
