Once you have decided on a 3-day Dooars trip, the next question is straightforward: how much should you keep aside? Your final cost will depend on where you stay, how many people share the room and vehicle, and whether meals and local experiences are included in your package.
A simple homestay trip will naturally cost less than an American Plan tea estate package. However, the cheapest room rate does not always mean the lowest overall trip cost. You need to compare accommodation, food, safari, transfers and local travel together before booking.

Stay Cost for 3 Days and 2 Nights

Budget homestays and basic lodges in Dooars generally cost around Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000 per room per night. If you are looking for a double room, you can expect to shell out around Rs 2,400 to Rs 4,000 for 2 nights. Meals, sightseeing and other activities are usually an additional cost.
A mid-range hotel or resort may cost around Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 per room per night. That brings the 2-night room expense to roughly Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. Depending on the property, this may include breakfast, better room facilities and access to maintained outdoor areas.
Tea estate accommodation needs to be compared differently because it is often offered on an American Plan basis. For example, the current Octavius Tea Resorts package lists twin-sharing room tariffs between Rs 10,000 and Rs 13,000 per night, depending on the bungalow and suite selected. For 2 nights, a couple would therefore pay approximately Rs 20,000 to Rs 26,000.
This package includes morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea with snacks and dinner. It also includes a tea estate and factory visit in the guest’s vehicle. Since meals and the tea experience are already covered, you should not compare this rate directly with a room-only hotel charging Rs 3,000 or Rs 4,000 per night.
Room occupancy also affects the calculation. At Octavius Tea Resorts, an extra adult is currently charged Rs 2,000 per night, including an extra bed, while a child between 3 and 12 years is charged Rs 1,200 per night. These details are useful if you are budgeting for a family rather than a couple.

How Much Should You Keep for Food?

If your accommodation includes only breakfast, allow around Rs 700 to Rs 1,200 per person per day for lunch, dinner, tea and snacks. A couple paying separately for most meals may spend approximately Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,000 over the complete trip.
Food at a resort can cost more than meals at local restaurants or dhabas, especially when the property is away from the main market. You should also ask whether drinking water, evening snacks, packed meals and additional beverages are included.
In an American Plan package, the main meals are already part of your room tariff. Octavius Tea Resorts, for example, provides home-style vegetarian meals through a fixed menu that changes according to the season. This makes your food budget easier to control because you only need extra money for anything ordered outside the package.

Dooars Jungle Safari Cost

Dooars jungle safari is popular for Gorumara National Park and Jaldapara National Park. The Safari costs are generally not included in your accommodation package unless the property specifically states them as an inclusion.
For planning purposes, keep around Rs 1,800 to Rs 3,000 for one jeep safari. The amount can include jeep hire, vehicle entry, individual entry and guide charges. Camera fees or online booking charges may be added separately.
Because several visitors can share one jeep, your cost per person becomes lower when travelling in a group. If you are visiting as a couple, ask whether shared seats are available before paying for the complete vehicle.
Elephant safari at Jaldapara, when available and operational, may cost approximately Rs 800 to Rs 1,200 per person, excluding any additional applicable charges. Indian and foreign visitor rates may differ. Safari availability, forest closure dates and tariffs can change, so confirm the latest amount through the official West Bengal safari booking portal.

Reaching Dooars and Local Travel Costs

Most travellers enter Dooars through NJP railway station, Siliguri or Bagdogra airport. A reserved small car from these hubs to Lataguri, Chalsa, Damdim, Nagrakata or a nearby tea estate may cost approximately Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,500 one way. Larger vehicles can cost around Rs 4,500 to Rs 7,000 or more.
Local sightseeing in a small reserved car generally costs Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500 per day. An SUV may cost approximately Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,500 per day. The final amount depends on your route, waiting time and total distance.
Pick-up and drop are available on request at Octavius Tea Resorts, but the charges are separate. The included tea estate and factory visit also takes place in the guest’s vehicle, so remember to account for a hired car if you are not bringing your own.

Total Dooars 3-Day Trip Cost Per Person

For 2 people sharing a basic room, eating locally, sharing transport where possible and taking one safari, a workable budget is approximately Rs 8,000 to Rs 13,000 per person.
For a comfortable trip with a better hotel or American Plan tea estate stay, private transport and one safari, keep around Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 per person. Your train or flight fare to NJP or Bagdogra remains separate.
Finally keep a buffer of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per person for entry tickets, parking, guide tips, snacks and shopping for local tea. Seasonal demand and updated tariffs can influence your final cost, so always confirm the latest package inclusions and rates before you pay.
