Robert Lewandowski returns to peak form! The standout striker outplays the Rojiblancos as Joao Felix exacts revenge once more.

The Poland international notched one goal and contributed two assists as Xavi's squad secured a comfortable victory in the capital. After enduring difficulties for much of this season, Robert Lewandowski has recently found his form, shining once more for Barcelona in their 3-0 triumph over Atletico Madrid.

His involvement in all three goals, including setting up Joao Felix to score against his former team, reaffirmed Barcelona's hold on second place in La Liga.

Felix opened the scoring in the first half, slotting the ball into the bottom corner to finish off a well-executed Barcelona attack and didn't hold back in his celebration in front of the Atletico fans. However, Barcelona would have to cope without their coach for most of the remainder of the match, as Xavi was dismissed shortly afterward for passionately disputing with the fourth official.

Despite the setback, the visitors remained unaffected, and Lewandowski scored the second goal after halftime with an impressive swivel and shot that hit the post before going in, doubling their lead. He also provided the assist for the third goal, with a well-placed g that Fermin Lopez eagerly converted, securing victory for the visitors.

Although Atletico continued to pose a threat, Ter Stegen made several diving saves to maintain the lead and preserve his clean sheet until Molina was red-carded in stoppage time.

How did Barcelona Players perform

Goalkeeper & Defense

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (8/10):

Produced a string of remarkable saves to maintain Barcelona's lead and will be pleased with the clean sheet.

Jules Kounde (7/10):

Assigned to contain Lino in the first half, largely successful. Showed some discomfort on the ball but handled defensive duties competently.

Ronald Araujo (7/10):

Dominant in aerial battles against various Atletico strikers. Experienced a couple of nervy moments but overall provided a steady presence in defense.

Pau Cubarsi (8/10):

Continues to impress, particularly for his age. Managed Morata well despite occasional challenges, showcased excellent distribution skills from deep positions.

Hector Fort (7/10):

A rare opportunity for the promising La Masia talent. Won his individual battles, displayed composure on the ball, and adds to Barcelona's growing pool of talented youngsters.

Midfield

Sergi Roberto (6/10):

Found it tough in midfield during the first half, especially considering his recent strong performance in the Champions League. Although he filled minutes, he may not be the ideal long-term option.

Ilkay Gundogan (7/10):

Instrumental in driving the midfield, contributing to Barcelona's opening goal. Maintained control and consistently made the right passes throughout the game.

Fermin Lopez (7/10):

Showed commendable energy in midfield and executed his header superbly for a goal. His consecutive scoring performances are beneficial for Barcelona, particularly considering their need for midfield goals.

Attack

Raphinha (7/10):

Assisted Lewandowski's goal and caused problems for the opposition throughout the match. However, he was substituted after an hour due to a potential injury concern.

Robert Lewandowski (9/10):

Displayed top form, providing a brilliant pass for Felix's goal and scoring a fantastic finish to secure a 2-0 lead. Additionally, he delivered a delightful cross for Fermin's goal, showcasing his best performance in months.

Joao Felix (6/10):

Scored a goal and modestly celebrated in front of his former club's fans. Sustained a few knocks during the game but still showed room for improvement in his performance.

Substitutes & Manager

Lamine Yamal (6/10):

Came on for the final half-hour but had limited involvement.

Oriol Romeu (N/A):

Briefly appeared to provide midfield stability.

Vitor Roque (6/10):

Made a short appearance, his pace leading to Molina's red card.

Inigo Martinez (N/A):

Offered additional defensive support in the closing stages.

Marc Casado (N/A):

Made his La Liga debut.

Xavi (4/10):

Implemented significant rotations, including leaving Yamal on the bench and starting Fort. Some tactical decisions were questionable, especially the decision to field a lightweight midfield. Xavi was sent off before halftime, but despite this, Barcelona remained in control, prompting reflection on his potential impact with more assertive decisions.
