We all knew tht if Avengers kept stone with them ,then the action and heroes happen due to stones at that time would b't be helpful in future. Doctor strange wouldn't be there.and Many other. Thus it necessary to back stone in their original timeline.
Captain went back to timeline to put stone back in theirs own timeline. After that Captain decided to stay with his love interest in that timeline . So by 2023 Captain qas already old he spent time .
