Niklas Süle

As of my last update in January 2022, Niklas Süle is a German professional footballer who primarily plays as a center-back or right-back. However, please note that player transfers and team rosters can change frequently, so it's advisable to verify this information with the latest sources.
Niklas Süle's professional career began at Hoffenheim, where he made his Bundesliga debut on May 11, 2013, against Hamburger SV. Despite a 4-1 loss, Süle's potential was evident, and he gradually became a key player for the team. In the 2013-2014 season, he solidified his position, making 25 Bundesliga appearances and scoring four goals, contributing to Hoffenheim's 9th-place finish.

The following season, Süle continued to impress, starting strong in the 2014-2015 campaign until he suffered a setback with a torn anterior cruciate ligament during a match against Frankfurt in December 2014. This injury sidelined him for the rest of the season, but he returned determined for the 2015-2016 season, playing in all 33 Bundesliga matches despite Hoffenheim's struggles, finishing 15th in the league.
Süle's standout performances during the 2016-2017 season attracted interest from top clubs like Bayern Munich and Chelsea. On January 15, 2017, Bayern Munich officially announced the signing of Süle from Hoffenheim, along with Sebastian Rudy, in a double swoop deal. They both joined Bayern Munich on July 1, 2017, marking a significant step in Süle's career.

Niklas Süle made a significant impact in his debut season for Bayern Munich, starting with his first appearance in the 2017-2018 Bundesliga season opener against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where he scored the season's inaugural goal from a free kick by Sebastian Rudy. Throughout the season, Süle played in 27 Bundesliga matches, scoring two goals, and made nine appearances in the Champions League.
His contributions helped Bayern Munich secure the Bundesliga title, finishing 21 points ahead of second-placed Schalke 04. Although they lost the DFB-Pokal final to Süle's former youth club, Eintracht Frankfurt, Süle's performances were instrumental in Bayern's successful season.

In the 2018-2019 season, Süle continued to shine, playing a key role in Bayern's triumphs. He scored crucial goals, including the winning goal against Werder Bremen, which helped Bayern maintain their lead in the Bundesliga table. Bayern secured their second consecutive Bundesliga title, with Süle also winning his first DFB-Pokal as Bayern defeated RB Leipzig in the final.
Despite suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the 2019-2020 season, Süle made a remarkable comeback, returning to action in August 2020. He played a pivotal role in Bayern's successful Champions League campaign, coming on as a substitute in the final and contributing to Bayern's victory, completing the continental treble for the season.
Süle's versatility and defensive prowess have made him a valuable asset for Bayern Munich, with his first Champions League goal against Lokomotiv Moscow highlighting his growing impact on the team's success.

Niklas Süle has represented Germany at various levels in international football. He participated in the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship with the German U17 team, gaining valuable experience early in his career.
In 2016, Süle was part of the German squad for the Summer Olympics, where the team achieved the silver medal, showcasing his talent on the international stage.
He earned his first call-up to the senior Germany national team in August 2016, featuring in matches against Finland and Norway. Süle made his debut against Finland, playing until the 59th minute before being substituted.

Süle's impressive performances earned him a spot in Germany's final 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He made his World Cup debut in the last group stage match against South Korea, although Germany suffered a 2-0 defeat and were knocked out of the tournament in the first round.
In May 2021, Süle was once again selected for Germany's squad, this time for the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament, demonstrating his continued importance to the national team despite the disappointment of the previous World Cup.
Niklas Süle was born in Frankfurt, Hesse, and his family has a diverse background. His grandfather György immigrated from Budapest, Hungary, to Germany with his wife. Süle's father, Georg, worked as a coach at Rot-Weiss Walldorf, while his older brother, Fabian, pursued a football scholarship at St. Francis College in New York.

The Süle family name has Hungarian origins, but Süle himself was contacted by the manager of the Turkish Football Federation under-16 national team during his teenage years due to his surname's perceived Turkish connection. Additionally, Süle was eligible to represent the Hungary national team as he holds Hungarian citizenship.
In late 2020, Süle welcomed a son with his girlfriend, Melissa Halter, marking a new chapter in his personal life alongside his successful football career.
Niklas Süle has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund, commencing from the 2022–23 season. The transfer is on a free basis, and Süle has signed a four-year contract with the club.
