Vinícius Júnior, born on July 12, 2000, is a Brazilian footballer renowned for his exceptional talent as a winger, playing for Real Madrid in La Liga and representing the Brazil national team. His playing style is characterized by his remarkable pace, clinical finishing, and exceptional dribbling ability.


Hailing from São Gonçalo, Vinícius began his professional career with Flamengo, where he made his senior debut at the age of just 16 in 2017. Shortly after his debut, he attracted the attention of Real Madrid, and a few weeks later, he completed a transfer to the Spanish club for a reported fee of £38 million, setting a national record for an under-18 player.Vinícius officially joined Real Madrid after turning 18 and made his debut for the club during the 2018-2019 season. Over the subsequent seasons, he established himself as a key player for Real Madrid, contributing significantly to the team's success. In the 2021-2022 season, he played a pivotal role in helping Real Madrid clinch the La Liga title and scored the winning goal in the final of the 2022 UEFA Champions League, showcasing his ability to perform on the biggest stages.


On the international stage, Vinícius has also made significant contributions to the Brazilian national team. He played a crucial role in Brazil's victories at the 2015 South American U-15 Championship and the 2017 South American U-17 Championship, finishing as the leading goalscorer in the latter tournament. He made his senior debut for Brazil in 2021 and played a key role in their runner-up finish at the 2021 Copa América. Vinícius Júnior's journey in football began in 2006 when his father introduced him to the Flamengo branch offices in Mutuá, São Gonçalo. At the time, he was registered as a left-back in his club documents.Coming from a humble Catholic family, Vinícius moved to Abolição to live with his uncle, Ulisses, to reduce the distance to Flamengo's training center, known as Ninho do Urubu. During this time, he started receiving financial support from Flamengo and assistance from local entrepreneurs.


From 2007 to 2010, Vinícius participated in futsal classes at Flamengo's school in São Gonçalo, held at Canto do Rio, a renowned club situated in the center of Niterói.
In 2009, at the age of nine, Vinícius underwent a futsal trial at Flamengo, where his potential was noted. However, due to his young age, he was asked to return the following year. Instead, Vinícius expressed his desire to pursue football rather than futsal and did not return for the trial. In August 2010, he successfully passed football tests at Flamengo, marking the beginning of his journey with the club.


Vinícius made his debut for Flamengo on 13 May 2017, coming on as an 82nd-minute substitute in a Brazilian Série A match against Atlético Mineiro, which ended in a 1–1 draw. Just two days later, he signed a contract extension with the club, prolonging his stay from 2019 to 2022. This extension came with a substantial increase in salary and raised his buyout clause from €30 million to €45 million. It was reported that this contract renewal was part of the agreement between Flamengo and Real Madrid for Vinícius's transfer, with the understanding that he would join the Spanish club in July 2018.


On 10 August 2017, Vinícius scored his first professional goal during a Copa Sudamericana match against Palestino. He found the back of the net just 30 seconds after being substituted on in the 72nd minute, contributing to Flamengo's 5–0 victory. Subsequently, on 19 August, he scored his first goals in the Brazilian Série A, netting twice in Flamengo's 2–0 win over Atlético Goianiense.


Vinícius kicked off the 2021–22 season in style, scoring Real Madrid's fourth goal in a commanding 4–1 victory over Alavés on the opening day of the La Liga campaign. His impact continued to grow as he scored a brace in a thrilling 3–3 draw against Levante on 22 August, coming off the bench. This performance earned him a regular spot in the starting lineup, displacing Eden Hazard.Continuing his fine form, Vinícius scored twice in a crucial 2–1 away win against Elche on 30 October, propelling Real Madrid to the top of the La Liga table. These goals marked his sixth and seventh of the league season and his eighth and ninth overall, surpassing his total output from the previous season in just 14 matches.


A defining moment came on 12 May 2022, when Vinícius netted his first hat-trick for Real Madrid in a dominant 6–0 victory over Levante. His exceptional performances culminated in the UEFA Champions League final on 28 May, where he scored the only goal in a hard-fought 1–0 win over Liverpool, securing Madrid their record-extending 14th UEFA Champions League title.With 22 goals in all competitions, Vinícius emerged as Real Madrid's second-top scorer of the season, only behind his strike partner Karim Benzema. His remarkable contributions earned him recognition as the inaugural Champions League young player of the season and a place in the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League team of the season.


On 11 February, Real Madrid secured a thrilling 5–3 victory over Al-Hilal in the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup final, with Vinícius delivering a standout performance by scoring a brace. His exceptional display earned him the tournament's best player award, marking his second Club World Cup title.The momentum continued on 21 February 2023, when Vinícius played a pivotal role in Real Madrid's remarkable 5–2 comeback win against Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions League knockout stage round of 16 tie. He scored two crucial goals in the first half, showcasing his clinical finishing and contributing to Madrid's impressive victory.


In the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City on 9 May 2023, Vinícius made a significant impact by scoring a stunning long-range goal in the 36th minute. Alongside his teammates Rodrygo and Karim Benzema, he played a key role in creating numerous scoring opportunities, highlighting Real Madrid's formidable counter-attacking abilities. Despite his efforts, the match ended in a 1–1 draw. However, in the second leg, Real Madrid suffered a disappointing 4–0 defeat against City, ending their Champions League campaign. Nonetheless, Vinícius was recognized for his exceptional performances by being selected in the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League team of the tournament.Following Eden Hazard's departure, Real Madrid announced that Vinícius would inherit the prestigious No. 7 jersey, previously worn by legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Raúl, starting from the 2023–24 season.
