Barcelona club president Joan Laporta has confirmed the club recently turned down an offer worth €200m for 16-year-old Lamine Yamal.

Reports from Spain recently claimed Barca knocked back a near-world record fee for the winger from Paris Saint-Germain, who are looking at replacements for the outgoing Kylian Mbappe.

As part of the launch of his new podcast on Barcelona's club channels, Laporta revealed such a sizeable offer did come in for Yamal, though did not identify who submitted it.

"We get offers for players like Lamine Yamal, for €200m, and we have said no," he said. "Because we trust the boy, in his sporting projection, and we do not have the need [to sell], on the contrary. We are in a process of economic recovery and already seeing the end of the tunnel.

"We have had offers for Alejandro Balde, Fermin [Lopez], very important [players like] Gavi, Pedri, [Frenkie] De Jong, [Ronald] Araujo... but we do not want to sell them. Only with these that I have told you, we would be at a figure of €1bn in income [if they were all sold].

"If someone thinks that he plays little and wants to leave [they can leave], but we are very satisfied with everyone."

Yamal is the latest talent to come off of Barcelona's La Masia youth production line, and Laporta said transfer plans must not interfere with the pathways of these young players into the first team.

"Only players who we need will come to reinforce some positions that do not clash with La Masia's policy, because we want to promote players who are already mature at Barca Atletic," he added.

"The other day, for example, [Marc] Casado made his debut, who had been called up for many times without making his debut in La Liga and played against Atletico. Thus, we have many players who are dynamic, from the first team like Hector Fort, who always plays very well.

"This is the Barca model, a unique model of understanding football and playing it, we will not change it. Only proven players will arrive, but it is not always easy to get it right. We have carefully studied most of the positions regarding players from [the youth team] who will be promoted to reinforce the first team."

Real Madrid torn over summer move for key centre-back target - report
Madrid are among the many admirers of Lille defender Leny Yoro
Club officials have long scouted the teenager and many hope to seal a transfer this summer

Real Madrid officials are divided over whether to pursue a move for Lille centre-back Leny Yoro this summer, a report has claimed.

Madrid want a new centre-back this summer and are long-term admirers of Yoro who, at just 18 years old, has already established himself as one of the top young defenders in Europe.

Previous reports have suggested Yoro is keen to make the move to Madrid this summer, but according to ESPN, the Spanish side have not yet decided whether to bring the teenager in at the end of the season.

Madrid are prioritising moves for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies this summer, and some inside the club believe they should wait before trying to sign Yoro.

However, the obvious concern is that another rival could take advantage of their hesitance and sign Yoro immediately. Chelsea and PSG are both seen as genuine competitors for the France Under-21 international's signature.

Yoro's Lille contract runs until 2025 and so, if he declines to sign an extension, Lille may look to cash in this summer before running the risk of letting him leave for free 12 months later.

A fee of €50m (£43m) is expected to be enough to sign Yoro, despite previous claims that he command double that figure.

Madrid had not planned to rebuild their centre-back group this summer and were instead planning to wait until 2025, but fears that they could miss out on Yoro's signature may prompt them to make a bid this year.

It is said that Yoro has been in contact with a handful of Madrid players to ask questions about life at the Santiago Bernabeu, although a switch to Spain this summer is far from certain.

Ibrahima Konate reveals Liverpool squad's anxiety over manager search
Liverpool looking for successor to outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp
German will leave Reds in summer and will go down as club legend
Ibrahima Konate admits squad are 'apprehensive' about search for new coach

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has admitted he and his teammates are 'apprehensive' about the club's future in the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Klopp will stand down from his post as manager at the end of the season, bringing an end to his near-nine year spell at Anfield.

News of Klopp's departure shocked the footballing world when it was announced publicly in January, and since then Liverpool have looked formidable in their quest to send him off on a high.

Speaking to France TV Info, Konate insisted while he trusts the club to find a suitable successor to a legend like Klopp, there is an understandable nervousness from within the dressing room about getting that decision right.

"He is one of the pillars of the club," Konate said of Klopp. "I was very surprised [when he announced his exit], but when you listen to him, when you understand why he made this decision, you can only thank him.

"Liverpool is Liverpool. It was Klopp who came for me and took me to the level I am at today. It will always remain a legendary, exceptional club.

"Everyone is apprehensive, every player is aware of that. Who will be the new coach, will things go well, collectively and individually? Because tomorrow a new coach arrives but for personal reasons, he may not like us. And you can't stay at the club because you have your career, you have your pleasures.

"Afterwards, there's not really too much to worry about at that level. Liverpool will get the job done and with what I'm doing on the pitch today, there's no reason why it shouldn't work."

90min understands Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is Liverpool's top target to replace Klopp, though he is also wanted by Bayern Munich. Brighton & Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi and German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann are also prominent names on their shortlist.
