Come join us on Lens
Lens a social media blockchain base layer on which social media apps can be built. Just like you can build apps to do defi on top of a network like Solana and use network resources like wallets and consensus to operate them, so to can you build social media apps on Lens and let Lens store profiles, posts, reactions etc.. and you just focus on building the UI.

Groups are on of the core assets that Lens provides to apps. Our group is Web3-Social-Insurance-Plan, find it in the groups section of any Lens app. For the purposes of this guide we'll be using the app Hey, but the lessons are applicable to any Lens app. Web3-Social-Insurance-Plan
Your Lens Profile
The first thing you need to do is create a Lens profile. This will be your core account on Lens and you can use it to log into any Lens app and access all your posts, friends, groups etc... If you don't like an app, it's so easy to move from app to app because you own all your data, apps just access it from the Lens base layer for you (as it should be).
Go to https://onboarding.lens.xyz/ and click Create Account.
NOTE: You can also edit your existing profile from here too.
Connect your EVM wallet and follow the steps to create your profile.
Once you've created your profile you can go directly into any of the Lens apps. Here's some of our personal favourites
- Firefly: Cross posting tool and wallet. Integrates with Lens, Bluesky, X and Farcaster
- Hey: Social media app. Similar in feel to Bluesky. Very minimal.
- Soclly: Social media app. Lots of functionality for posting. Similar in feel to Facebook.
- Lens Reputation: Social ranking app that works across many other Lens apps (e.g., Soclly).
Join Our Group
Now you have a Lens account, you can join our group. For the purposes of this guide we're using Hey, but this works on any Lens app that shows the Groups feed.
Login in (1) with the wallet you created your Lens profile with (2)https://hey.xyz/
Once you've logged don't go to Groups on Hey.
Yes we said DON'T.
Now we come to one of the drawbacks of the Lens approach. Because every app is free to built whatever interpretation of the core feeds they want, you don't have any enforced standardisation.
Hey doesn't have any search in their Groups section or a listing page.
Whereas Soclly does.
On Hey you'll need to do a general search for "Web3-Social-Insurance-Plan" and click on the Groups results. You can find our group from there.
Click join and you're in!https://hey.xyz/g/0x523eA3d69FB88EF7F1e9EaEF6cC9b8E0c4cab86E

Funds on Lens
You won't need gas on Lens, but you might want to swap on the chain and mostly Lens is moving to Aave's stablecoin GHO.
You can bridge directly from inside a wallet like Rabby (our recommended EVM wallet), it'll handle the swaps for you as well.
Or you can use a bridge like Across https://app.across.to/bridge-and-swap. Which will also handle the swaps for you.
Both are great and easy solutions.
NOTE: you're needing to move funds from Solana to an EVM chain we recommend DeBridge for that https://app.debridge.finance/deswap.
Make sure to move to something cheap like Arbitrum or Base to make the jump to Lens.
Don't back to Ethereum; the gas fees are too expensive and with these swap bridges (Across, DeBridge etc..) you don't need to do complicated multi-leg bridge transactions any more.
