How Vibe Coding Is Rewiring Geopolitics, Power, and the Web

I have a confession to make. I built a fully functioning web application a couple days ago. It took me about 45 minutes. I didn’t write a single line of JavaScript, I didn’t configure a server, and I didn’t spend hours crying over broken brackets.

I built it using Google’s newly released Antigravity 2.0, an agentic development ecosystem that transforms code creation from a precise science into a casual conversation. The app/website I built is called Quick-Pad, and it is a cross-device, completely ephemeral notebook. You don’t sign up, you don’t log in, and you don’t trust Big Tech with your data. If you need to beam a crypto seed phrase or a temporary password from your desktop to your phone, you drop it in, grab it on the other device, and hit self-destruct. The entire node vanishes, and a burned broadcast message flashes across every connected screen.

It is a neat, incredibly useful tool. But as I watched the site deploy, a cold wave of realization washed over me. If an ordinary creator can spin up a decentralized, secure, self-destructing data conduit in the time it takes to finish a cup of coffee, what are the actual professionals building? What are the brilliant, highly motivated bad actors making in their basements?

We have officially transitioned out of the era of manual software engineering and entered the era of vibe coding. It is an shift that is thrilling, deeply empowering, and utterly terrifying. The barrier to digital creation hasn’t just been lowered. It has been completely obliterated. And as the power to create anything you can think of falls into the hands of anyone, the traditional structures of world power, security, and global conflict are shifting beneath our feet.

Welcome to the Era of the Non-Coder Engineer


For decades, software development was a walled garden. If you wanted to build something for the internet, you had to learn the syntax, master the frameworks, and understand the deep infrastructure. You had to speak the machine’s language.

Then, OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy coined the term vibe coding to describe a reality where developers fully give in to the vibes and let AI handle the syntax. But the era moves fast. Karpathy recently declared that pure vibe coding is already obsolete, announcing a transition into Agentic Engineering. It’s no longer just about chatting with a model. It’s a disciplined practice of orchestrating parallel fleets of agents, managing design specs, and rigorously reviewing code diffs. Instead of painstakingly typing out logic, you steer autonomous AI agents with high-level, natural language directions.

Platforms like Antigravity are turning this workflow into reality. Unlike early AI assistants packaged as simple editor extensions, Antigravity 2.0 is a standalone desktop application. It acts as an agentic central command center, running concurrent autonomous agents across your terminal and browser to construct frontends, manage backends, and handle testing outside the constraints of traditional IDE layouts. They write the frontend, configure the backend, test for bugs, and deploy the code while you sit back and orchestrate the high-level concept.

Data from early 2026 indicates the adoption war is already over. Benchmark industry surveys show that 84% of developers have integrated AI into their regular workflows, while Google’s DORA report notes that a staggering 90% of technology teams now deploy AI daily. Nearly half of all new code globally is AI-generated. We are living in a world where the distance between having an idea and deploying a live website is measured in minutes. Hyper-niche, disposable software is now fully viable. If a problem exists for even a single afternoon, you can build a custom application to solve it, use it once, and discard it.

The Dark Side of Infinite Leverage


It is easy to get swept up in the democratic magic of this technology. Giving everyone the leverage of a seasoned software engineering team is a massive win for human creativity. But leverage doesn’t care about your morals. The exact same agentic systems that allowed me to build a secure, ephemeral notepad can be instructed to build highly sophisticated, adaptive malicious tools.

Consider how a hacker operates. Historically, launching a sophisticated cyberattack required deep technical expertise, coordination, and significant time. Today, a bad actor with decent product intuition can use agentic setups to build custom exploits, scrape vulnerabilities across thousands of websites simultaneously, and dynamically alter code to evade traditional security protocols.

The speed of development is fundamentally fracturing our ability to audit what is being put online. Security researchers auditing applications generated by early automated platforms found that a notable percentage of publicly deployed apps contained severe security vulnerabilities that exposed personal user information. Because vibe coders don’t always understand the underlying codebase their agents generate, they are shipping software they cannot fundamentally verify.

We are accelerating into a massive security deficit. When anyone can build anything they can think of, the internet becomes flooded with billions of lines of unverified, autonomous code. The playground is getting bigger, but the guardrails are completely gone.

The Invisible AI War and the Shift in Global Power


If this paradigm shift feels volatile at the individual level, it is downright revolutionary at the geopolitical level. Software is the nervous system of modern society, dictating how infrastructure runs, how finance flows, and how nations protect themselves. Vibe coding changes how power works because it shifts the advantage from the entity with the most capital to the entity with the fastest iteration cycle.

We are entering an era where state-sponsored cyber warfare will not be fought by teams of hackers typing furiously in dark rooms. It will be fought by autonomous agent clusters deployed via terminal interfaces like the Antigravity CLI, executing multi-step reasoning, tool calling, and background code refactoring at a scale humans cannot track in real-time.
Who is to say the first true AI war hasn’t already started? Traditional warfare is loud. Kinetic weapons leave craters and smoke. Cyber warfare is inherently quiet, but agentic cyber warfare is completely invisible. It is entirely possible that rogue states or decentralized groups are currently deploying thousands of parallel agents to map critical infrastructure, test defense boundaries, and quietly establish persistence in foreign networks.

Nations might be winning or losing massive digital skirmishes right now, and the public wouldn’t know until the lights flickered out. The democratizing power of AI coding means that a small, agile group with access to a cluster of frontier models can effectively project the digital force of a superpower. The traditional asymmetric advantage of guerrilla groups is being digitized, amplified, and handed an API key.

Where Do We Go From Here?


Watching a website like Quick-Pad spring to life from a few sentences of instruction leaves you with a strange mix of awe and anxiety. We have reached the point where human imagination is the only real constraint left in software development.

If you can think it, it can exist. That is a beautiful, radical reality for creators, builders, and entrepreneurs. But it also means we must fundamentally rethink how we approach digital trust, security, and personal data. We can no longer assume that a piece of software is safe just because it looks professional or functions smoothly. In the age of AI agents, a polished, enterprise-grade interface can be spun up by a teenager in an afternoon, or by an adversarial bot net working on a scheduled background task.

The world is about to get very interesting, very fast. As the barrier to entry drops to zero, the volume of digital creation will explode exponentially. It’s up to us to make sure our critical thinking, our security paradigms, and our skepticism scale at the exact same rate.
