Despite fewers users, Facebook remains Belgium's most popular social network

Facebook remains the most popular social network in Belgium, yet the number of users has declined slightly over the past year, according to figures from analytics firm NapoleonCat.
With over 8.4 million accounts, Facebook is still the most-used social network in Belgium: about seven in ten Belgians have an account on the platform, although that is a small decrease (-1.5%) compared to 2022.

The number of Belgians using Messenger – Facebook's chat application – remained virtually unchanged, clocking in at 6,208,800 for 2023.
LinkedIn and Instagram gained in popularity among Belgians: with over half a million additional users, the professional network LinkedIn experienced strong growth in 2023 and brought its number of users to 5.17 million.
Instagram, however, is also going strong and was also able to increase the number of Belgian users to almost 5.2 million in 2023 (+300,000).
For each platform, the 25-34 age group is the most important target group. Particularly for LinkedIn, their importance is striking: 25 to 34-year-olds account for about half of its total number of users.
