BASE, the blockchain ecosystem backed by Coinbase, has joined forces with Sound.xyz, a blockchain-centric music platform, enabling artists to mint their music on-chain, unveiling their inaugural track within the system.

In a recent announcement on X (previously Twitter), Sound.xyz revealed the collaboration, signaling a pivotal move for artists aiming to mint tracks as nonfungible tokens (NFTs) via the Ethereum layer 2 BASE ecosystem. The partnership highlights reduced gas fees for minting tracks and expeditious transactions, showcasing the platform’s efficiency. Sound.xyz emphasized the seamless upload and withdrawal processes without the need for crypto purchases or fund bridging.

The inaugural track on BASE, “Based,” curated by artists Reo Cragun and Heno, takes on a blockchain-themed narrative, incorporating lyrics that resonate with the integration of a billion on-chain and the loyalty of steadfast supporters in challenging times.
