How AI Just Handed Attackers the Keys to Your System
I had a great discussion on the Full Metal Packet podcast, talking with Yegor Sak and Alex Paguis, about the cybersecurity risks and challenges that is accompanying the global adoption of AI.
These fundamental issues are outlined in the 2026 Cybersecurity Predictions that cover:
1. Attackers have an advantage, as they are leveraging AI at record speed for their malicious purposes
2. Defenders are racing to catch up, by adopting AI for defenses, but are steps behind
3. Global markets are adopting new AI technologies at unimaginable speed, that are accompanied by unknown vulnerabilities
4. Cybersecurity leadership responsibilities are shifting, with expectations that business AI use cases should be supported, while defense is provided against AI powered threats, and protection is extended to internal AI tool functionality. A challenging combination.
Overall, 2026 will be a difficult year for cybersecurity professionals, but the more we understand the drivers, the better we can position ourselves for success!
