As someone always seeking to evolve into a better version of myself, exploring ways for self-improvement has always been an intriguing pursuit. Of course, I attempted to find shortcuts, thinking there must be a hack for it. However, I later realized that shortcuts often have a short lifespan. Creating beautiful things always takes time.

In my personal development journey, I've read many experts and watched numerous videos. I worked on instilling useful habits and making more active use of my brain. Throughout this process, I've tried various recommendations. From taking cold showers and engaging in H.I.I.T. exercises to daily journaling and long walks. I also experimented with various supplements and "nootropics" to find a "magic pill.' While each of these had its unique benefits, what I discovered on this journey was the genuine desire for change. If you don't genuinely want the change, no habit can last beyond a few weeks. Or no supplement can provide that 'magical' effect. So, if we're not content with where we are in life, we first need to leave behind the habits that keep us here. Otherwise, we'll continue living as we are.

When it comes to willpower and discipline, one of the most exemplary personalities is David Goggins. Whether you know him or not, I highly recommend watching his latest episode on Andrew Huberman's channel.


David describes himself as the laziest person doing the hardest jobs in the world. Why does he say that? Because, according to him, discipline is doing what you need to do even when you hate doing it. Now, I'll share some key points from his recent podcast that resonated with me.
Goggins emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and dispels the notion of relying on motivation or passion. He advocates for a relentless "all stick, no carrot" approach to achieve success.

All Sticks, No Carrots

Stick means work, and carrot means reward. Of course, we all want the reward at one point. But what this mentality means is focusing on the work rather than the reward itself.
Goggins reflects on happiness not being a primary focus during his transformative journey and emphasizes the ongoing commitment to self-improvement, haunted by the persistent "stick" of challenges and doubts.
Living a disciplined life led David Goggins to embody the qualities he admired in others, cultivating unyielding discipline and determination. One of the things I relate to him is having ADHD. He still has a hard time learning sometimes, yet he pushes himself every time.

The harsh reality of hard work is the necessity of disciplined effort, despite its unglamorous nature.

There’s no f*cking hack


As someone who pursued a "hack" for years, I can confidently say there is none.
It’s you against you. 
Goggins emphasizes the absence of life hacks, stressing the importance of consistently doing challenging tasks to build willpower, and unraveling the misconception of quick fixes.
The hack is doing it, he says.
The brain can grow and change over time, and maintaining discipline is crucial for its development. Pushing through challenges and adversity to build inner strength and reshape one's life.

Everyone can build inner strength and overcome challenges.

Understanding your brain and becoming unstoppable involves more than external aids. It's about mental nutrients, internal dialogue, and the right actions at the right time, turning yourself into a powerful force.
The journey to building immense inner strength involves no external rewards, no carrots, but it encompasses all of it in one. It's about being always found, not lost, even though the journey is challenging.
