The Chelsea Football Club fired Thomas Tuchel as head coach on Wednesday. This occurs just 24 hours after the Blues' devastating 1-0 loss in the Champions League opener on Tuesday.
The club confirmed this in a statement posted on their website.
The Premier League team announced that Chelsea's coaching staff would be in charge of the team throughout practice and during match preparation. The club is working to appoint a new head coach to fill the open post, the statement continued.

"Chelsea Football Club has today parted ways with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel," read the statement. The Club would like to officially express its appreciation to Thomas and his team for all of their work while they were employed by Chelsea FC. After helping Chelsea win the Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup during his tenure there, Thomas will rightfully have a part in Chelsea's history.

"The new ownership group believes it is the proper time to undertake this change as it approaches 100 days since taking over the Club and as it continues to work hard to take the club forward." As the Club moves quickly to select a new head coach, Chelsea's coaching staff will be in charge of the team throughout training and during the preparation of our forthcoming games. There won't be any further comments until a new head coach is named, the statement reads.
