THE MAN WHO SOLD YESTERDAY
In Yaba market, there was a man named Baba Yesterday. He didn't sell clothes or shoes. He sold yesterday.
If you had a bad day, you could go to him, pay N500, and he would buy your yesterday from you.
People laughed at first.
One girl came - she failed JAMB three times. She said "Take my yesterday, I don't want to remember it."
Baba nodded, collected N500, and whispered, "Done."
The next morning, she woke up and couldn't remember yesterday. But she felt light. She studied and passed.
Word spread. A man whose wife left him. A boy who lost his mother. They all came.
But one day, a rich man in Benz came. He said "Baba, I want to buy someone else's yesterday. A happy one."
Baba looked at him. "I only buy bad yesterdays. I keep them here."
He opened a sack. Inside, thousands of folded papers - all black.
"I carry them," Baba said. "That's why I never smile. Because if I don't carry your yesterday, you will keep carrying it forever."
The rich man left quietly.
That night, Baba Yesterday sat alone, reading all the sad yesterdays, so that everyone else could have a better tomorrow.
Moral: Some people heal by taking pain away from others, even when no one takes theirs.
