This is part of a series of posts about the Bonk! project on Solana. Check out my profile for the others.

An Introduction to $BONK

$BONK started life as a meme token. And it sort of still is. Big price spike and then a fall.
So far so meme-coin.

But the BONK is different.

If you're interested in defi and crypto then I think you should be paying close attention to what is happening with the Bonk! project. The $BONK LPs (Orca, Raydium etc..) have been consistently high performing pools as goes transaction fees ever since $BONK launched.
Why?

Well the BONK team never stopped building so $BONK usage remains very high.

Read https://www.bonkcoin.com/about and the whitepaper: https://bonkswaps-organization.gitbook.io/bonkswap-white-paper/, and scroll through their Twitter https://twitter.com/bonk_inu and you'll see this team have their eyes set on bigger things.

If you check out their integrations https://www.bonkcoin.com/integrations you'll see they're well on the way to delivering on this vision. There is A LOT here already. And more are being added all the time.

If you follow the Discord link on https://www.bonkswap.io/ it'll take you to the HXRO Discord. blocmates wrote a very good article on what the BONK-HXRO integration is for and why that's important https://blocmates.com/blogmates/defi-flywheels-the-unexpected-hxro-bonk-printer/

Burn Baby Burn

The $BONK burn: For all you degens check out the burn $BONK have implemented. This just keeps running in the background, gradually reducing supply over time.

I have reservations about burn programs for tokens with hard caps. I can see the upside in the short term being you'll onboard a bunch of people looking to "moon" (and user acquisition is not to be sniffed at) but longer term you want people to use $BONK; not hold it.

Does $BONK need to look to Dogecoin for the long term?

Crazy as this might sound, I think Dogecoin is possibly the eventual winner in POW IF Bitcoin doesn’t remove the hard cap on tokens.

Even if Bitcoin do remove the cap I still think Dogecoin has a real shot at fulfilling the promise Bitcoin had of being a true peer to peer currency. A large part of my reasoning here is they’re actually thinking about how you’d make that happen.
I love their FAQs. Succinct, snarky, and technically on point: https://dogecoin.com/dogepedia/#faq

At some point the people who won’t touch $DOGE because it has a an internet dog on it are way less than those who don’t care how it looks; only how it functions. Hint: this is the younger generations and they are much more technically minded as a cohort.

Dogecoin started out much like $BONK in many ways. They changed the project to suit their longer term vision. I am sure the $BONK community are well aware of that.

What is Moonshot?

Moonshot is a multichain gaming protocol that allows you to wager $BONK (and a number of other tokens) on fun games of chance.

At present they have two games live: Crash & Double.

Getting set up on Moonshot

Navigate to either Crash or Double and connect your wallet (you'll need a Phantom wallet to play).

Click on your Moonshot account and select BONK to upload some $BONK to play with.
We'll be uploading 3M $BONK. The reason for that particular number I'll explain later.

Uploading to an account on Moonshot will save you gas fees for transactions to play. It's a good idea that looks after the player. Other games like this do separate wallet transactions for each play. It also allows Moonshot to offer expanded gameplay (which we'll get to below).

Make sure to turn on the sound. They've done a good job with it, especially with Crash.

Okay let's play!

Moonshot Double

https://moonshot.win/double

  1. select the amount you want to wager. $BONK has a minimum bet of 1000 (~$0.00032 at time of writing)
  2. Select which multiplier + colour you want to try for
  3. We're going to try for X2 Green

  1. Your confirmed bet (and anyone else bets who happen to be playing) will show below in the section you selected.
  2. The countdown to the next game show under the spin select

Unfortunately you can't stack up bets or bet on multiple outcomes in the same game. It'll throw an error for you.

Moonshot Crash

https://moonshot.win/crash
Moonshot Crash has two modes: Manual & Auto

Manual Mode

  1. Select Manual
  2. Set your bet for the round. $BONK has a minimum bet of 1000 (~$0.00032 at time of writing)
  3. Set the multiplier you want to get under
  4. Cancel your bet at any time (whilst the game is running)

  • 1 & 2. If you pick a multiplier under where spaceship crashes at...
  • 3 & 4 You win!

  • 1 & 2. If you pick a multiplier above where the spaceship crashes at...
  • 3 & 4. You lose!

Auto Mode

  1. Select Auto
  2. Set your bet for each round. $BONK has a minimum bet of 1000 (~$0.00032 at time of writing)
  3. Set the number of rounds
  4. Set the multiplier you want to get under.
  5. Start the rounds

The rounds will play out just as though you were playing each in Manual Mode. You can stop the Auto Bet at any time.

  1. If you select Stop at any Win
  2. The Autobet will stop as soon as you get your first win (3 & 4). You'll need to restart it if you want to play out the rest of the rounds. Not a bad idea if you're looking for a big multiplier and want to take your winnings as soon as you get it.

Okay.. so what?

Some of you might be thinking: "Who cares? This is gambling degeneracy."

Well a couple of things.

Games of chance exist everywhere. There's far more wagered on each pull of a gacha mechanic in gaming (AAA and F2F) than what you're wagering here. They aren't (yet) classified as gambling. I would argue this type of game is far safer for players than the existing gaming designs.

Moonshot has a partner program https://about.moonshot.win/#partners that shares revenues with partner DAOs and hosts events. See their Discord for more details. $BONK is one of those partners.

Moonshot has a 1000 $BONK minimum bet. I think this is important to flag.
Remember I mentioned the 3M figure before? That's minimum bet on another popular crypto game: FFFlip by Famous Fox Federation https://ffflip.famousfoxes.com/

At time of writing this is only $0.956278 but it's that, EVERY spin. For that price I can play 3,000 times on Moonshot.
Even better, if I go to Bonk Or Bust https://bonkorbust.com/

I can play with a minimum of 1 $BONK thus enabling me to have 3M turns. (though at that price SOL gas fees are more expensive than the $BONK).

The one grip I have about Moonshot (and it is a small one) is it is a 1M minimum withdrawal for $BONK.
At time of writing that's only $0.318617 but there's no reason you have to have a minimum because there's no minimum for deposits.

Gambling sites often do this as a way to try and lock players funds in their site for longer. They often argue it's to save on transaction fees, but always withdrawal limits are higher than deposit limits... so that's provably bulldust.

It's a shame Moonshot have taken this approach as it does take away a little from an otherwise excellent little product.

Hopefully they'll rethink this design choice in future integrations.
