Orby Labs aims to improve the multi-chain UX by building an interop solution that specifically caters to the needs of single-chain apps. This is crucial as existing interop solutions are built for cross-chain apps, while single-chain apps primarily need interop solutions that address account fragmentation. Account fragmentation is the inability for users to seamlessly access their collective assets in all their accounts on any individual chain.
Currently, there are no interop solutions that adequately solve this problem, forcing single-chain apps to adopt makeshift solutions. Three options include:
(1) Deploying copies of their apps across different chains,
(2) Become a cross-chain app,
(3) Do nothing, and
(4) Do nothing.
However, these approaches have some issues, such as increasing administrative burden on developers, rebuilding their app from scratch, fragmenting the network, and being counterproductive when building on custom stacks.
Orb Labs believes that a new system for interop that addresses account fragmentation is needed for single-chain apps to provide multi-chain users with UX on par with web2 apps while addressing the issue of account fragmentation. This system should not significantly burden users, app developers, or wallet providers, and is critical to many developments in web3, such as Ethereum scalability, modular chains, and app-chains.
Intent-driven interop via Orby and the Orb Stack aims to empower developers to build on any chain that best suits their app while allowing them to access any users on any chain. This means building an interop solution that solves account fragmentation while maintaining the highest standards regarding security, cost, and speed. By implementing this system, Orb Labs hopes to create a more efficient and user-friendly interop solution for single-chain apps, ultimately leading to web3 adoption and improved multi-chain UX
