The Wrong Bus
Tayo was new in Lagos. First day at a new job in Ikeja.
He left home in Ojo by 5am. Got to Mile 2 and boarded what he _thought_ was "Ikeja". The conductor was shouting so loud he just jumped in.
1 hour later he realized: this bus was going to Ajah. Wrong direction.
He had 1,000 naira on him. Transport back + to Ikeja would finish it. And he’d be late.
He was almost crying in the bus when his phone rang. Unknown number.
“Hello, is this Tayo? This is HR from the company. Our interview panel is stuck in traffic. Can we move your interview to 2pm online instead?”
He exhaled.
He got off at the next park, took another bus back, joined the interview from a cafe, and got the job.
That night he told his sister: “If it had not been for God’s grace... Ore ofe sha ni mo ri gba o.
If it had not been for His mercy... Aanu sha ni mo ri gba o”
Because sometimes getting on the wrong bus is how God gets you to the right place at the right time.
