Choose Love

I heard a song yesterday that hit me where it counts. When I heard it I knew I had to learn to play it. Just to be able to sing it to the love of my life in the way that this singer sang it to the love of his.

There is such an amazing lesson of love that I have learned over the last few years, and I can almost enunciate it well enough to be able to speak about it now. Something I need to say that I think my circle of influence needs to hear, and it entirely begins with recognizing how people feel when they hear songs like this.

It’s absolutely brilliant how God, the universe, or whoever, designed this place we are in. It’s so obvious to me what the biggest lesson here is that we can learn. It’s about how we can all feel love and use that to make our decisions. Our own special, unique love, that we each individually feel. And it isn’t fake for one second. No matter who it is that is hearing and feeling it. No matter who it is they are feeling it for. It is love, and it transcends all labels and boundaries society has set, and ever will set.

The tears that fell down my cheeks as I heard it were for Stacey… But I could have been sitting right next to a person watching it and feeling that love for their boyfriend, wife, child, or their pet. That same love. That same feeling of being torn apart if forced to live without them.
It is irrefutable. And therefore reprehensible to ever deny someone the loving actions they wish to take which are inspired by that love. I just think we’ve gotten mixed up in society, and it can be so much easier when we start with love. When we make our decisions out of love instead of fear. And we remember who we are and how we are all connected to one another. And recognize that we are ALL seeking our own individual loves every day.

Baseball. Dancing. Business. Science. Yoga. Whatever your love. You just follow your heart and make decisions with love, and with an understanding of what the other guy is after also... Even when the other guy can’t even see it, or recognize how he acts when seeking that which he loves.

And when we tap into that love, we tap into the ease. And it will be easy when we all learn it- how to make our choices with love, and then pass it on, what we’ve learned. It makes everything else easier. Every hard thing we encounter. And yet it never seems that easy. It always seems so gray. So much, “yeah but this is different”, when we try to apply it daily. But that’s just us fighting our heads. We battle it out every day. Our heads vs our hearts, because we don’t actually want to live it. We want to be at ease, skate through the way we always have, living trivially on the surface, denying what we are feeling in favor of what we are thinking. I do it all the time. I slip into judgmental, callous Adam as soon as I leave the house, and many times even before that.

But that’s not good enough. We have to fight that battle, every day if we must. Tell our heads to shut the F up, and listen to love. Listen to our hearts because listening to your heart is tapping into your higher, spiritual self, where we are all connected. And that is tapping into a network where we have strength and resources in abundance. Yet we choose to go it alone. “Thinking it out” in only our minds. Our tiny earthly minds, where we think we know it all. We think we’ve heard it all. We know so much, we say to ourselves! But what do we even know? The only thing we really know is what we feel. But we squash that.

Just look at what people can accomplish when they act from those feelings of love! What could we all accomplish together? If we all helped each other succeed instead of compete. Just let us all give in. Give in to what we feel. Love.

How much it means… to have someone’s love like I have hers. And to give and express it to her. How much power do we wield, then, when we have love? When she and I walk together, with love, in love, for love. When you and your loves walk together. When all of us walk together, bonded by that very same love that we ALL feel. That we all share when we happen to hear a beautiful song, written for someone else we don't even know. We all share that feeling. We all love. It's where we begin this new life. A new path.

We can all be great. And it starts with choosing love. It’s really that easy.
