What Is Psychology?

The literal meaning of the English word psychology is the study of the soul or the knowledge of the soul.
This is the first ideology of psychology, whose time is considered from the beginning to the 16th century. The supporters of this ideology are considered to be Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Socrates etc.
Psychology was expressed by psychologists as the science of consciousness instead of the science of mind or mind. Scholars like Titchner, William James, William Wundt etc. accepted psychology as the science of consciousness and said that psychology is the study of conscious actions.

Role of psychology in education:
There is no doubt that psychology has a big hand in the development of modern education system and making it child based, it works to make the teaching-learning process more easy and sensitive. With the help of education psychology, a teacher is able to know what are the needs of the learner child and in what ways they should be made to learn.
The greatest contribution of psychology in the field of education has been to bring acceptance of individual differences. Every child is different from another child in mental, physical and intellectual development. Respecting their individual differences and levels, teachers move forward by taking children of all levels together, this has been possible only because of psychology.
Keeping in mind the age, level, need of the children, psychology has also contributed significantly in the formulation of curriculum in today's time. Psychology has given the method of teaching children through co-educational activities in addition to textbooks.
