When I first visited Dr. Balchand Motchani in Mirpurkhas, I had no idea about the gravity of my illness. He prescribed some tests, including a Blood CP. When the report came, it revealed that my White Blood Cells (WBC), which should be between 4,000 to 11,000 in a normal person, had reached 350,000! The doctor looked at me with concern, but I was smiling in my ignorance. I told the doctor, "Just give me medicine for the stomach pain; I will get the tests done later." I kept taking those medicines for a month, but my health continued to deteriorate instead of improving.

When I visited him again, the doctor recommended a 'Bone Marrow' test and said I had to go to the Aga Khan Laboratory in Hyderabad. The test was expensive, and I didn't have enough money at that time. I went back to my village. My father is a very hardworking and honest man; when he received his salary, he gave me the money for the test, and I left for Hyderabad.

Reaching my cousin's place in Hyderabad, I was completely calm and happy, as if nothing had happened to me. I had planned that after the test, we would go visit the famous Rani Bagh in Hyderabad. The test was extremely painful; they extracted a sample from my bone. Despite the anesthesia, the pain reached deep into my soul. After the test, I said to my cousin, "Come on, let's go to Rani Bagh!" Unaware of my illness, I roamed around there happily.

About 20 days later, when I went to collect the report, my uncle was with me. We went back to the doctor. As soon as the doctor saw the report, his face dropped. He didn't tell me anything; he took my uncle aside and revealed the reality of the illness. My uncle was shattered at that moment, while I was still unaware of the truth and trapped in a struggle that I couldn't even imagine.
