Amber Heard

Amber Laura Heard, born on April 22, 1986, is an American actress known for her roles in various films and television series. She rose to prominence with her first leading role in the horror film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006). Heard has appeared in a range of films, including The Ward (2010), Drive Angry (2011), London Fields (2018), Pineapple Express (2008), Never Back Down (2008), and The Rum Diary (2011). She has also played supporting roles in movies like The Joneses (2009), Paranoia (2013), Machete Kills (2013), Magic Mike XXL (2015), and The Danish Girl (2015).

In addition to her film career, Heard portrayed the character Mera in the DC Extended Universe, appearing in films like Justice League (2017), Aquaman (2018), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). She has also ventured into television, starring in series such as The CW's teen drama Hidden Palms (2007) and Paramount+'s fantasy series The Stand (2020).
Beyond her acting endeavors, Heard has been actively involved in advocating for civil rights and civil liberties. She became a volunteer with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in 2016, serving as an ACLU Artist Ambassador. Additionally, she has worked as a Human Rights Ambassador for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Heard's personal life has been the subject of significant media attention, particularly her marriage to actor Johnny Depp in 2015 and their subsequent divorce in 2016. The former couple has been embroiled in legal battles and public accusations of domestic abuse against each other, leading to high-profile defamation cases such as the Depp v. NGN trial and the Depp v. Heard trial.

Amber Laura Heard was born on April 22, 1986, in Austin, Texas, to Patricia Paige Heard (née Parsons), an internet researcher, and David Clinton Heard, a construction company owner. She grew up with her two sisters in a family that lived outside Austin. Heard's upbringing included outdoor activities like horseback riding, hunting, and fishing with her father, who trained horses as a hobby.
During her childhood, Heard also participated in beauty pageants, although she later expressed reservations about the objectification involved in such events. Raised Catholic, Heard experienced a significant shift in her beliefs at the age of sixteen when her best friend died in a car accident. This tragedy led her to identify as an atheist.

Feeling constrained by the conservative environment of Texas, Heard made the decision to drop out of her Catholic high school at the age of seventeen to pursue her ambition of becoming an actress in Los Angeles. She eventually obtained her high school diploma through a home-study course, allowing her to focus on her acting career.

Amber Heard's early acting career included appearances in music videos and small supporting roles in television series and films. She appeared in Kenny Chesney's "There Goes My Life" and Eisley's "I Wasn't Prepared" music videos. In 2004 and 2005, she had minor roles in TV shows like Jack & Bobby, The Mountain, and The O.C.
Heard made her film debut in the sports drama Friday Night Lights (2004) and went on to have supporting roles in films such as Drop Dead Sexy (2005), North Country (2005), Side FX (2005), Price to Pay (2006), Alpha Dog (2006), and Spin (2007). She also had a guest-starring spot in an episode of the TV series Criminal Minds.

Her first leading role came in the slasher film All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. However, due to distribution issues, the film wasn't released widely until later years.
In 2007, Heard played the love interest in The CW's teen drama Hidden Palms. She also appeared in the short film Day 73 with Sarah, the teen drama Remember the Daze, and in an episode of the Showtime series Californication. These early roles helped establish Heard as a promising talent in Hollywood.

In 2008, Amber Heard gained mainstream recognition with supporting roles in two notable films. She appeared in the Judd Apatow-produced stoner comedy Pineapple Express and the martial arts drama Never Back Down. Additionally, she was part of the ensemble cast in the adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's novel The Informers.
The following year, Heard starred in The Joneses opposite David Duchovny and Demi Moore, earning praise from critics who noted her standout performance. However, her other films during this period received mixed reviews or were limited in their theatrical release. These included ExTerminators, The River Why, And Soon the Darkness, The Stepfather, and The Ward.

Heard's first film release in 2011 was Drive Angry, a supernatural action thriller with Nicolas Cage, where she received positive feedback for her performance despite the film's commercial underperformance. She also made an appearance on the British television program Top Gear. However, her next project, NBC's The Playboy Club, faced criticism and was canceled after three episodes. Heard's third role in 2011 was in The Rum Diary, where she starred opposite Johnny Depp. Although the film didn't fare well commercially, Heard's performance received mixed reviews.
In addition to her film roles, Heard appeared in an advertising campaign for the fashion brand Guess in 2011.
