As of writing, Kabosu still lives with Atsuko Sato and her 3 rescue cat siblings Azalea, Ginkgo, and Onigir. She celebrated her 18th birthday on November 02, 2023. Take note that the average lifespan of a Shiba Inu is 12 to 15 years, and Kabosu recently celebrated her 18th birthday.
As a tribute to her popularity and contribution to internet culture, a monument was built in her image along with her cat siblings on the same day of her 18th birthday at Sakura City, Furusato Square, a place where Kabosu and her mom frequently visit for walks.
