What is Sleep ?


Sleep is a State of mind where your body is doing rest but the parts of your body are not at rest they are doing work always. While sleeping your body is on recovery phase.

What happens when we sleep ?


So when we sleeps our body relaxes and go through four stages of sleep which includes three stages of non rapid eye movement (non-REM) and one stage of rapid eye movement (REM).
In non REM sleep there is absence of eye movement and in REM sleep where dreaming occurs, there is movement of eyes.


1st Stage Non- REM

This stage occurs when your body starts to sleep. Your body will start to relax and your heart beats, eye moments will start to slow down. This phase last about seven minutes.


2nd Stage Non-REM

This stage involves the light sleep just before the deep sleep.
Here your temperature of the body will start to decrease slowly, eye moments will stop and muscle continue to relax.
During sleep you spend most of time in this stage.


3rd Stage Non-REM

In 3rd and 4th stage deep sleep starts to begins. Your eyes and muscles don't move. Deep sleep is restorative. Your body replenishes its energy and repair cells, tissues and muscles.


4th Stage REM

When you fall asleep this stage happens till 90 minutes. Your eyes move quickly side to side during REM.
In this stage your brain wave, heart rate, eye movement and breathing speed increases.
Dreaming also happens during this stage.


Advantages of a good sleep


1. A better sleep can boost your immune system.
2. A good sleep can strengthen your heart.
3. A better sleep will make your mood better and your day also good.
4. A good sleep increases memory power also.
5. A sleep can help to loose or maintain your weight.
6. Helps to increase concentration power.
7. It can also maximize the athletic performance.


Disadvantages of not getting a proper sleep


1. It will directly affect on your mood and it can spoil your day also.
2. You might see changes in blood pressure because if improper sleep.
3. Weakened immune system.
4. It can also increase the risk to Diabetes.
5. Lack of concentrating on things.
6. It also can lead to you serious health problems like heart disease.
7. Lack of sleep or improper sleep kills your sex drive .
