SRC-20 is a technical standard used to create and manage tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain. This standard draws inspiration from the ERC-20 token standard used on Ethereum. Token standards exist to ensure the consistent and standardized creation of tokens and their management through relevant smart contracts¹.
SRC-20 is supported by a protocol called Bitcoin Stamps. Bitcoin Stamps is a protocol designed to create secure and tradable artworks. This protocol offers a unique settlement method to add data to Bitcoin transactions. SRC-20 takes a different approach compared to writing technologies used by Ordinals, creating fractional NFTs under the name STAMPS and utilizing this data for storage on Bitcoin nodes².
SRC-20, while structurally similar to Ethereum's ERC-20 token standard, has been specifically designed within the Bitcoin ecosystem, enabling NFTs to be uniquely processed on the Bitcoin blockchain².
SRC-20 tokens enable Bitcoin to become not only a store of value but also a platform with expanded use cases. However, some critics argue that such tokenization moves Bitcoin away from Satoshi Nakamoto's original vision².
To purchase SRC-20 tokens, you need to use a compatible wallet and an exchange. For example, you can find a guide on how to acquire BRC-20, SRC-20, and DRC-20 tokens on the Coin Engineer website³.
