How to Avoid Wallet Hacks
71
On our journey in the blockchain space, we interact with a lot of websites and webapps which might take some vital information from our web3 wallets which can be used against us later by hackers.
Hackers are inevitable in this space, as there is always someone who tries to hack or steal money in every financial structure or system. On August 8th, my solana wallet was compromised along with over 9000 wallets too and their SOL and USDC was drained. After some in-depth thoughts, I have come up with some tips to stay safe from hackers attacks . Here they are:
- Get a Ledger: A ledger is like a cold storage for your ccrypto tokens, it is hardware and can only be accessed by you. It should be the goal of every crypto investor in the long run.
- Incase a ledger isn't available to you at the moment, have separate wallets. For example , have 3 wallets A, B and C: Wallet A is what you use for NFT trading and flipping, Wallet B could be for what you use for airdrops and dApps interaction for Defi. Wallet C should not be a wallet created with an entirely new keyphrase and should not be allowed to interact with any dApp. Keep it as your safe. Send whatever profits made on either wallet A or B to this wallet. That way you stay safe incase A or B are compromised.
That's all for now. If I get more tips, I will be sure to post them here. Stay safe
