Australia’s Premier Surfing Contest 🌊🏄♂️😎
For as long as I can remember, the Bells Easter Classic has been the Premier Surfing Competition in Australia.
Named after Bells Beach in Victoria where the competition is held, professional surfers from around the planet converge to this usually quiet part of the Victorian Coast every Easter with the hope of ringing the bell - traditionally, the trophy is a big bell which the winning male & female will ring at the presentation.
Bells is also renowned for big waves and cold conditions.
It is also quite a sacred Aboriginal site and prior to the competition starting, there are traditional Aboriginal dancers, face painting and music as a welcome to Country.
Depending on surf conditions, this year is quite open to who could ring the bell… surfers from Australia, Hawaii, Brazil, Mainland USA, are all in for a chance.
The waiting period (meaning they have a set amount of days available to maximise the best surfing conditions) starts tomorrow morning, with a possible start at 7am AEST.
