Gabriel Batistuta is an Argentine former striker born in 1969. Batigol is a top striker, second only to Lionel Messi.
Batistuta began his career at Newell's Old Boys in 1988, before moving to River Plate in 1989. He then had a brief spell at Boca Juniors, before moving to Fiorentina in 1991. Batistuta spent nine seasons at Fiorentina, becoming the club's all-time top scorer with 207 goals. He also won the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Super Cup with the club.
In 2000, Batistuta moved to Roma for a then-world record fee of £35 million. He won the Serie A title in his first season at Roma, and also reached the final of the UEFA Cup. Batistuta left Roma in 2003, and had spells at Inter Milan, Al-Arabi, and Qatar SC before retiring in 2005.
Batistuta was a prolific goalscorer throughout his career, scoring 357 goals in 516 club appearances. He was also a regular scorer for the Argentina national team, scoring 54 goals in 78 appearances. Batistuta played at the 1994, 1998, and 2002 FIFA World Cups, and also won the 1991 and 1993 Copa América.
