Ronaldo is not retiring - What really happened
Ronaldo left the Portugal training camp last month after he was left on the bench against Norway. It was the first time in more than 18 years that he did not play a single minute for Portugal. After that, coach Jorge Jesus told him he would not start against Denmark either.
Ronaldo said in his statement that the coach broke his word to him twice, so he decided to leave the camp. He apologised to his teammates and to the fans for leaving like that. He also said he accepts any punishment from the Portuguese Football Federation and he will not ask for it to be reduced.
The most important part is this: Ronaldo said he is NOT retiring from international football. He said after he serves his suspension, if he is fit and scoring goals for his club, he will be available again to compete and win for Portugal.
I think this shows Ronaldo still has hunger and he does not want just a farewell match. He wants to compete. What do you think? Should Portugal bring Ronaldo back for the next games, or is it time to move on without him?
