The Solana-powered blogging platform has experienced rapid growth recently.

If you’re part of the Solana ecosystem, you may have noticed an influx of Web3-based social media and blogging sites, as well as many other useful & interesting projects like Kamino & Jupiter dex’s.

One of our favorite projects in the Solana ecosystem is one that we’ve been supporting for close to a year now. Working as a genuine Web3 competitor to Medium, Bulb is a do-to-earn platform where users can be paid for their engagement and content. While we’ve written about Bulb before, with the recent explosion of new growth it appears worthwhile to revisit some of these tips and see what we need to do to fit into the Bulb platform and earn ourselves some $bulb tokens to cash out later.

The App and How it Works

It’s pretty simple really. Uses earn points for sharing, reading, and creating content. Each week, these points will be used to ascertain a position on the leader board which is then converted to bulb tokens. So if we play our cards right, we can use the leaderboard to obtain tokens via airdrop.

While these tokens aren’t able to be traded on DEX or CEX at the moment, they are listed in the second half of 2024. 6 months is nothing in the crypto world, so if you’re a creator, it’s well worth spending some time to jump on board.

There’s also multiple ways to earn points, with sharing, writing, reading, referring and reporting all allowing users to earn points to help with their leader board position and increase their token stack

You’ll also find that by obtaining a Bulbmoji (Bulb NFT) your points become easier to earn as well as being more lucrative for each action. Bulbmoji NFT’s are currently out of stock but there’s more being released soon and you can buy someone else’s Bulbmoji via the marketplace if you need to.

You’ll also be able to earn extra points by participating in the weekly challenges. These challenges, while modest, are able to increase your points tally substantially. Completing them weekly gives you a multiplier and eventually, you will earn over 250 points for writing a single brilliant article. Nice.

Things to Consider

Being a legitimate do-to-earn site means that while you can make tokens by being a legitimate user, there are usually stiff penalties for bots, as well as spam articles and comments. One of the things that often catches new users is their engagement and the type of comments that lead to filtering.

While the moderation system is community-based, there can be some confusion about what’s acceptable and what is not.

Generally speaking, comments that are repetitive and add little to the conversation are the first that are targeted for filtering. This would typically include comments like “good”, “great” and “thanks” that add little to the conversation.

The algorithm likes it much more when you include feedback, like why you liked the article or found it interesting. It doesn’t have to be a short story for each comment, however, it is worth your while to engage properly, as Bulb has a very active community of writers that regularly engage with their readers.

Comments like this on other people's blogs will get you a long way on Bulb.

Creator Tools

One of the best things about Bulb is the large number of creator tools that are available for writers to leverage. This includes NFT tools for writers as well as its own BULB AI to assist writers in rating their stories and providing summaries. Bulb AI is extremely useful, allowing writers to enhance their productivity while still holding control over the length, type, and style of their work. It’s also a key component in helping you meet your weekly challenge goals. Like many sites, bulb is not a fan of fully AI-developed content. However, they do encourage writers to use it as a productivity tool. A smart approach to take at this point.

You’ll also find a well-stocked NFT store with writers' content. Holding a BULB NFT may also give you additional points sharing on an article depending on how the creator has put it together. This means you can earn points of other people's articles simply by holding their content.

While the mint fee can be a tad high (.1 sol) it’s still a great way to experiment with NFT articles and build a following in the future. It’s my personal opinion that out of the myriad of NFT literature sites, Bulb has been the closest to getting that done right.

In Closing

So that’s a wrap on our opinions around Bulb. While it may not be for everybody, if you’re already publishing on Medium, Substack, or Publish0x, then you’ll find little reason to not include bulb into your cross-posting as well.

It’s also worth remembering that the best time to earn bulb tokens was last year. The second best time, according to the road map is now. Come join us, you’ll find a welcoming community and plenty of tools to make your onboarding and content creation easier.
