The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (ret. ), has received praise from the Public Accounts Committee of the Nigerian Senate for providing "good leadership for the anti-narcotics agency in its onslaught against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria."

The chairman of the committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, gave the commendation on Tuesday during the Public Hearing on Service Wide Vote at the Senate Complex in Abuja. According to a statement from the agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Marwa's leadership at NDLEA has changed the country's drug war narrative both domestically and internationally.

“While bemoaning the past when the agency lost its glory, the Senate committee chairman said it is now daily visible and glaring to all Nigerians that the NDLEA is not only barking but also biting deep drug barons and dealers that have for years remained invisible and untouchable, and he expressed the committee’s readiness to continue to support Marwa and the NDLEA to succeed in making Nigeria a drug free country.
The NDLEA director should always feel free to approach committee members for any support that will make the agency better, he added. This is true even as the committee works to support Marwa's persistent efforts to combat drug misuse and the trafficking of illegal substances.

Marwa thanked the committee, the Senate, and the full National Assembly in his reply for giving the agency the legislative support it needed to realize its vision and fulfill its objectives.

He reassured them that NDLEA will continue to uphold its obligations while receiving their assistance, which will make Nigerians and Nigeria proud.
