Hasan and Emir are two foster brothers who grew up together. There is no sacrifice Hasan wouldn't make for Emir. One day, during a flying competition, Emir misses the kite. Hasan runs after the kite but falls into the hands of a gang. The leader of the gang first beats Hasan and then rapes him. Emir, who sees the oppression of his foster brother from the bushes, is content to just watch.

Neither Hasan nor Emir tells anyone anything about what happened. This incident causes a rift between the two. Instead of feeling sorry for the persecution of his friend Hasan, Emir distances himself from him. He goes further and accuses Hasan of theft, even though he is completely innocent. This slander causes Hasan and his father Ali to be expelled from the mansion.

However, years later, Hasan writes a novel about his experiences and forgives Emir.

 The Kite Runner Plot

In the book, the civil war in Afghanistan, racism, and the distinction between rich and poor are told through two foster brothers.

 The Kite Runner Characters

 1- Order

Emir, who lost his mother at a young age, always suffers from the absence of his mother, even though he grew up in abundance. Even though his father and his men surround him, he grows up without love. This causes him to become a vicious and selfish child. The relationships Emir establishes are also superficial. He doesn't trust even his closest friend. The reason for this is that he thinks about his own comfort and safety first of all.

 2- Hasan

Hasan, who is self-sacrificing enough to even risk death for his friend, is a poor child, unlike Emir. He is quiet and withdrawn. Hasan, a devoted child, could not learn to read and write because he had to work from a young age. Despite this, he listens with curiosity to the stories read by his best friend Emir. Hasan's biggest dream is to become a writer read by everyone when he grows up.

3- Ali

He is Hasan's father. She works as a maid in the mansion where Emir and his father live. All he wants is for his son not to suffer what he suffered and to live a more comfortable life. For this, he works with all his might and does not shy away from any sacrifice.

 4- Father.

Emir's father's name is not mentioned in the novel. Baba, one of the richest people in Afghanistan, is a helpful person. He always tries to help especially the poor.

The Kite Runner Number of Pages
