Most of the time we hear that blockchain is the future, blockchain can do this and that but sometimes we fail to place our finger on what it really can do.
For those of us that have just been hearing the term blockchain and don't really know what it is, blockchain is simply a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain. Due to recent developments in the blockchain industry, different use cases have been discovered. For example:
In real life, blockchain can be used to hold Public officials accountable via smart contracts
- Transparency is enabled with immutable public records
- Blockchain-based voting adds security and incorruptibility, allowing votes via mobile devices.
In the healthcare sector, the application of blockchain will enable healthcare applications to be decentralised, private and secure for accessing medical data for patients and interrelated actors (doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, etc.).
These are just two industries/sectors, imagine the difference it'll make if applied to other industries like banking and Finance, transport etc. Blockchain will bring the change and transparency of most of these sectors.
