10 MEDITATION DOSES
TEXT : 1 THESSALONIANS 5 :17
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
MEDITATION DOSE: PRAYER
It isn't sacrifice if it is always comfortable!
God's intention is not for us to make prayer an activity that we do once in a while or when it feels comfortable but to make it a lifestyle.
Reflect and meditate on this!
MEDITATION DOSE: ALAS! IT WAS BORROWED
TEXT: 2 Kings 6:1–7
MEDITATION: The passage before us tells the story of Elisha and the sons of the prophets. As their number increased, the place where they lived became too small, and the need for expansion arose. With Elisha’s approval, they went to the Jordan to cut down trees for a new dwelling place.
In the midst of this noble assignment, tragedy struck—an axe head slipped off the handle and fell into the river. The work immediately came to a halt because, without the axe head, the mission could not continue. In desperation, one of the men cried out, "Alas, master! For it was borrowed."
This scene mirrors the state of many lives today. Like that axe head, many people were once sharp, useful, and effective—chosen vessels for the expansion of God’s Kingdom and the destruction of the works of darkness. Yet, while engaged in their divine assignment, they fell away. They became lost in the "river" of sin: immorality, pride, unhealthy competition, covetousness, greed, lust, hatred, and the pursuit of worldly pleasure.
Many have become unconscious of their true purpose for existence. Instead of seeking God and His will more deeply, they chase fame, material wealth, power, and recognition—forgetting one crucial truth: their lives were borrowed.
The life we live is not our own. It was given by God to be invested for His glory and to draw many to repentance. Until a person comes to the point of humility and brokenness—like that servant who cried out—what has been lost will remain lost.
Meditate on this: What is lost can only be recovered when there is a sincere cry. Spiritual fervency can be restored. Purpose can be renewed. You can begin again—if only you will cry out to God in humility and truth: "Alas, Lord… it was borrowed."
MEDITATION DOSE: THE SALVATION POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS
TEXT: Acts 4:12
The Bible says in The Message translation of our main text: "Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one."
There is mighty power in the Name of Jesus, and this power supersedes the influence of every other force combined. The Bible reveals that one of the immense capacities of the Name of Jesus is its unique power to bring salvation to humanity. A name represents identity. Therefore, stepping into the supernatural identity of the Name of Jesus—truly leaving behind who you were and stepping into who He is—brings a salvation that nothing else can offer. It is crucial to understand that there is no other way to access true salvation in God except through the Name of Jesus. Jesus Himself declared in John 14:6 that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. His Name is the only means by which a person can be born again.
Only the Name of Jesus has the capacity to bring people out of the bondage of sin and the wickedness of this world. No amount of self-determination, mental awareness, or self-discipline is capable of truly saving a person. True salvation can only be accessed through the Name of Jesus; there is NO OTHER METHOD OR MEANS. No other name was ever given, and no other will ever be given. This is the ultimate standard God has raised for the entire world to come into.
The saving power in the Name of Jesus is open to anyone who desires to be saved. The Bible tells us that whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Before a believer can call upon His name for daily deliverance from earthly troubles, they must first experience the foundational salvation that the Name of Jesus brings: salvation from the bondage of sin and the grip of the enemy.
Meditate on this:
There is no other way mankind can be reconciled back to God except by the Name of Jesus Christ. It is the only way to access the throne of God. You must first secure this true salvation from sin and Satan's grip before it is too late.
MEDITATION DOSE: THE HEALING POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS
TEXT: Isaiah 53:5; Philippians 2:9-10
As discussed previously, there is immense power and authority in the Name of Jesus. The Bible reveals that God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him a name that is above every other name. Among the numerous things the Name of Jesus can accomplish, it perfectly embodies the power of healing. This authority covers diverse kinds of sicknesses, illnesses, diseases, infirmities, and even death.
Healing refers to a radical recovery in the health of a person who has been diagnosed with a particular ailment. The Bible declares in Isaiah 53:5 that Jesus Himself was "wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." We must note that the scripture does not say we will be healed, but that we are healed. This means a believer's authority over sickness is already established and assured. Sickness is not your portion! The healing that the Name of Jesus brings is not just superficial or temporary; it is permanent.
However, we must understand that this power in the Name of Jesus cannot be accessed by mere lip service or empty confessions. It takes a life totally yielded to God to declare freedom from the bondage of sickness and see it manifest. Proverbs 18:10 reminds us, "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." Believing in the Lord and yielding completely to Him is the vital key to receiving divine healing.
Meditate on this:
The power in His Name is more than capable of healing diverse diseases. Run to Jesus, let Him save you, and allow Him to carry away your burden of sickness. Run to HIM today !
MEDITATION DOSE: GENERATIONAL BLESSINGS
TEXT: Genesis 17:1, 7–9
There are often speculations and arguments about generational blessings—specifically, whether they are biblical. Consider the story of Abraham, to whom God appeared saying, "I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect." We see God establishing a covenant between Himself and Abraham that did not end there; it was destined to span his generations.
The first thing to note is the person with whom this started: Abraham. Before God established His covenant in verse 7, He gave an instruction in verse 1. For anyone who desires something spectacular to come from their life and generation, spectacular consecration is required. It appears that much depends on a man if his generation is to be blessed through him. You determine what happens to your lineage; the question is whether you are willing to pay the price for generational blessings.
God can establish a covenant with a man that spans generations after him. However, such a man must be ready to pay a price: Walking with God. God will not commit Himself to mediocrity. He commits to those ready to pay the price.
For the beneficiaries of the blessings, there is a need to stay and remain in the covenant to keep enjoying the blessings. The price remains constant if the blessings are to continue. It is crucial to note that God is only committed to those who are committed to Him. For Isaac and Jacob to enjoy the blessings promised to their father, Abraham, they had to continue to keep the covenant.
Many expect to enjoy the dividends of Abraham's blessings without making the sacrifices he made. This expectation is false, and any perceived benefit may simply be a delusion.
Meditate on this: God does not hold back on blessings or promises; He only looks for men who are ready to pay the price to either establish or continue the potency of such a covenant. If there are no generational blessings that you currently enjoy, it can start with you—if you can pay the price of walking with GOD !
MEDITATION DOSE: GENERATIONAL CURSES
Text: Numbers 14:18; Ezekiel 18:1–20
Numbers 14:18: "The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation."
This scripture describes God's nature and His position toward iniquity. Just as generational blessings are attracted by right standing and an uninterrupted walk with God, generational curses can also be attracted by the sins and wrongdoings of one man toward God. Even though the Lord is merciful and forgives iniquity, He does not spare the unrepentant, impacting even the fourth generation. It is important to note that it takes just one person to activate generational blessings or curses.
A perfect example is the man called Achan. He took of the accursed things and kept them for himself, against the instruction of the Lord. The punishment was that he, alongside all his family, was destroyed. This shows us how a man's actions can affect those coming after him.
However, generational curses can be broken. The second scripture (Ezekiel 18) shows us that any man who does what is righteous before the Lord will be spared the punishment of his parents' sins. This righteousness, however, cannot be obtained by human nature alone; it is by coming to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because any man who is in Christ is a new creature and can set a new record, turning generational curses into generational blessings.
Meditate on this: A lot can happen to the coming generation because of you. You determine much of what happens after you. Therefore, it is wise to allow Jesus to help us have right standing with Him to attract generational blessings, rather than curses that emanate from sin and iniquity. Let Jesus help you!
MEDITATION DOSE: THE SECRET PLACE – THE PLACE OF REVELATION
TEXT: Revelation 4:1
As discussed in previous daily doses of meditation, the secret place represents many things. Today, we will explore how the secret place is a place of revelation. It is the place where more of God—His abilities and capabilities, who He is, what He can do, His ways, and His acts—are revealed to mortal men.
It is essential to note that John the Beloved wrote the book of Revelation while he was alone with God on the Isle of Patmos. Before reaching the fourth chapter, the scriptures record his visions pertaining to the angels of the seven churches. However, upon reaching chapter four, there was a higher calling for him: "Come up hither" (Rev 4:1)—an invitation to actually behold the glory and greatness of the Most High God Himself. Previously, he saw shadows and fragments, but by staying, he began to behold the King.
The secret place is a school where we learn more of God. It is the only place where God gradually unravels the mysteries of His Person to a man. Here, man takes the position of the student, and the Holy Spirit takes the position of the Teacher, guiding him through the syllabus called Jesus. However, it is expedient to note that when a man steps out of this school of discipleship with the Holy Spirit, he becomes spiritually stunted—a dropout contributing little to the body of Christ (just as it applies to secular education).
Staying in the secret place not only helps a man become more like God, but it also helps him see God more clearly and come into a fuller understanding of the wonders of His Person. The public square is not the place to behold God clearly; the secret place is. It is the sanctuary where God reveals Himself to mankind. Grasp this opportunity!
Meditate on this: Revelation brings a clearer understanding—the full knowledge of the who, why, and how. It is only the secret place that can bring the full experience of this revelation in Jesus Christ.
MEDITATION DOSE: THE SECRET PLACE – THE PLACE OF FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
TEXT: John 15:15
"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."
The secret place is the ultimate location for fellowship with the Holy Spirit. While it serves many purposes, one of the most significant is that it is the designated place where we commune with Him. To illustrate this, the word "fellowship" can be viewed conceptually as a combination of "fellow" (equals, companions) and "ship" (a vessel that conveys people or materials from one place to another). In a spiritual sense, fellowship is a state that brings God, who is Spirit (John 4:24), and mortal man to a point of profound communion—a vessel that makes it possible to convey deep truths and intimacy from one party to the other.
The secret place is a platform for this fellowship, where God and man can have a heart-to-heart discussion just as friends do. It is a space where God is able to pour the burdens of His heart out to man, and man is able to do the same with God.
This scripture shows us how the Lord Jesus Himself extends this offer of friendship to whoever will accept it. God's ultimate desire is not merely for us to be servants. His greatest offer is divine friendship, and the depths of that friendship are only accessible in the secret place.
Meditate on this: God is ready to make deep intimacy between Himself and man possible. He extends an open offer of friendship to mankind. This is a tremendous opportunity we must not miss.
MEDITATION DOSE: LET JONAH GO
TEXT: Jonah 1:3-7
MEDITATION:
The reason for many people's predicaments and troubles is that they have allowed something "Jonah-like"—something that brings God's disapproval or resistance—into the ship of their lives. Many believers have allowed certain things to creep into their lives unawares, and it is causing them unnecessary turbulence.
There might be a "Jonah" causing a storm in the ship of your life and destiny. God often gives us signals to eliminate whatever is causing this divine resistance against us. You may have allowed certain habits, associations, or sins to creep in due to a lack of spiritual sensitivity, recklessness, or negligence. These must be removed as soon as possible to avoid any further chaos. This is precisely why many believers have lost things that should never have been lost.
This is where the power of consecration (being set apart and entirely devoted to God) comes in. Others might permit certain things in their lives, but because of your unique calling and relationship with God, He does not permit them in yours.
Meditate on this!
What "Jonah" is sleeping in your boat while the storm rages outside? It is time to let it go.
PRAYER: Lord, open my eyes to the things You do not permit that have crept into my life unawares, and help me to always be sensitive to Your prompts.
MEDITATION DOSE: THE WORKS OF THE SINFUL NATURE
TEXT: Galatians 5:17-21
Just as it has been established, sin is not just an act of offense, but more of a nature—an inner personality controlling the outer man, subjecting him to what it wants him to do. It is expedient to know that several versions of the Bible reveal that this sinful nature is the flesh. To understand this better, the Bible says in verse 17 that the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, so that a man cannot do anything except what one of the two makes him do. This means no man is truly independent; he is either controlled by the flesh or by the Spirit.
It is, however, expedient for us to be aware of the works of the sinful nature (the flesh) as mentioned in the scripture above. The Bible says, "the works of the flesh are manifest..." Other versions interpret this as "are obvious, plain, etc." This means wherever such works are found, there is no further contemplation: the flesh is behind it, and it should be done away with because it is the sinful nature. For example, wherever a wooden chair, table, or door is found, there is no doubt that a carpenter made it. The works are listed in Galatians 5:19-21: "¹⁹Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like..."
This tells us that wherever any of the above is found, it is the work of the flesh and not the Spirit. It is quite sobering to realize that adultery, fornication, murder, and witchcraft were placed on the same scale as envy, wrath, strife, and the likes that we tend to view as "little sins." One thing is sure: they are all products of the sinful nature, which God hates.
Meditate on this: God's Word reveals that these are the works of the flesh, and this sinful nature is always against God's Spirit. This means that whosoever works the works of the flesh cannot have God's Spirit in them. This is why we must do away with the sinful nature at all costs.
