THE TWO FRIENDS AND THE LION
Two friends, Emeka and Tunde, went to bush to fetch firewood.
Suddenly, LION came out! Big lion, hungry lion.
Tunde dropped his firewood and climbed the nearest tree sharp sharp. He did not even look back.
Emeka could not climb tree. He did not know what to do. So he lay down on ground and pretended to be dead. He heard that lions don't eat dead people.
Lion came, sniffed Emeka's ear, sniffed his mouth, sniffed his nose. Then lion whispered something to Emeka and walked away.
Tunde came down from tree.
Tunde: "Emeka, thank God you are alive! What did lion whisper to you?"
Emeka looked at Tunde, cleaned dust from his body, and said:
"Lion said, 'Never trust a friend who leaves you when lion comes.'"
Tunde was ashamed. He knelt down: "Sorry my brother."
Emeka: "Stand up. Next time, we climb tree together, or we die together."
From that day, they never left each other again.
True friend is not the one who runs first. True friend is the one who stays when lion comes.
