MAMA NKECHI AND THE PHONE CALL
Mama Nkechi just bought her first Android phone. Touch screen. Her son bought it from Lagos.
Her son taught her: "Mama, if someone calls you, just swipe green."
Mama: "Okay."
One afternoon, phone rang. Big green button showing.
Mama Nkechi did not swipe. She pressed the green button hard, like old Nokia.
Nothing happened.
She pressed harder. Phone still ringing.
She started shouting at phone: "HELLO! HELLO! I AM HEARING YOU!"
Still ringing.
She got angry, she took the phone and hit it on her lap, "HELLOOO!"
The caller cut call.
Mama Nkechi called her son, very angry: "You bought fake phone for me! I am shouting hello but the person cannot hear!"
Son laughed: "Mama, you need to SWIPE, not PRESS."
Mama: "Swipe ke? I thought swipe is for thieves! You want me to swipe person? God forbid, I am a Christian!"
Since that day, whenever Mama Nkechi's phone rings, she will run to her grandson Chinedu: "Chinedu, come and swipe this call for me, thief don call me again."
And that is how Mama Nkechi never misses call again.
