We’ll look at using Kamino in anticipation of an airdrop announcement.

If you’ve been active on Solana recently, you might have noticed some hype building around projects, as well as plenty of discussions around the viability of an airdrop. While there’s plenty of projects on Solana that can be used for airdrop qualification, in today’s article we’ll be exploring how to use Kamino Finance. Powered by Solana, Kamino provides De-Fi services and allows users to earn free meme coins for engaging in the community, providing liquidity and other tasks. You’ll also find a range of typical defi services, like lending and borrowing as well.

Before we start however, it’s important to understand this this article is not provided as financial advice, and that participants should carry out their own research with regards to a projects viability and sustainability. Don’t become someone else’s exit liquidity. Be Smart. Do Research. Hold your own Keys.

Solana Token

While much of the recent hype around airdrops has focused on other blockchains, Solana it’s self has seen massive growth over the 2023 period. While there’s plenty of projects showing good returns, the token it’s self has seen steady gains throughout the year. And while there’s still a ways for it go before it reaches a return to all time high, we can see that it’s been able to hold on to these gains

With that said, Solana looks to be a solid contender for gains during the next bull run. And while there’s plenty of great projects on Solana like Bulb & Solcial we can still use the Solana token to build a transaction history and potentially qualify for new airdrops in the new year.

Kamino is one of the contenders that’s suspected to announce an airdrop next year. To participate, you’ll need a Solana wallet and some Solana tokens to use for defi purposes.

Kamino Finance

While some of Kamino’s services remain in Beta mode, there is a way for us to potentially qualify for an airdrop and receive some free BONK tokens along the way. We can do this buy lending and borrowing SOL & MSOL & BSOL.

Firstly, we’ll want to make SOL available for lending purposes. While you can pick your own value, you’ll want to make it reasonable so you can build up a transaction history. Once you know what you want to lend, you’ll need to add it to the pool as shown below

You’ll need to sign the transaction in your wallet. Once your complete, you’ll see the portfolio updated with your latest transaction. However we’ll need to do more to qualify, so next we’ll look at borrowing as well. We can’t borrow as well as supply, so for borrowing purposes we’ll use either MSOL or BSOL.

Choose your borrow amount, and once you’re done lock it away and sign the transaction. You’ll need to conduct a few of these transactions to increase the chances of qualification, so come back and engage with the ecosystem more than once.

Now, because we’ve provided liquidity and borrowed, we are eligible to earn free BONK tokens as a return. To claim them, we’ll need to access our portfolio and look for the rewards.

Once you’re in, look for the tab marked “My Rewards”. You’ll see the rewards waiting for you. When you hit the claim tab, you’ll be asked to sign a transaction and the tokens will be sent to your wallet.

Remember airdrop qualification is typically about volume and consistency, so remember to regularly engage for the best chance of obtaining a reward. Also, Kamino is not accepting referrals at this point, so your best bet is to use their De-Fi services and build an established history.

Next article, we’ll look at how how to go through the same process for Marginfi, another De-Fi provider on Solana.
