FREECASH, JustPlay and PlayZone have been confirmed as scams
We would like to issue a warning to users of the three apps: FREECASH, JustPlay and PlayZone. These apps often use enticing claims in their adverts, such as ‘Earn money easily just by playing games’, and it appears that they particularly target those who are less well-informed or in a financially vulnerable position.
However, in reality, numerous issues have been reported, such as high minimum thresholds for cashing out and complex identity verification procedures that Japanese users often struggle with, making it extremely difficult to earn the level of rewards expected. Furthermore, there are many operational restrictions—such as points not being credited unless games are launched via the app—and there is a constant stream of cases where rewards are not correctly awarded due to tracking errors.
Despite these realities, we consider it highly problematic that some influencers are knowingly disseminating information that stokes excessive expectations. We have already reported these apps to the major app stores and, in collaboration with Japanese consumer organisations, will continue to seek improvements through all reporting channels provided by the Consumer Affairs Agency.
We intend to persevere with these efforts until these apps have completely disappeared from the Japanese market, and we plan to claim compensation for the time, effort and costs incurred in the process through the appropriate legal channels. We urge all users, when using these apps, not to be misled by advertisements or influencers’ statements, but to gather sufficient information and make careful judgements for themselves.
We believe that vulnerable individuals must not be deprived of their money, time or effort as a result of such issues, and we will continue to speak out on this matter without turning a blind eye.
