Brave Browser's Leo Continues to Excel With Even More Improvements!
Last September the Brave Dev team announced that their privacy-preserving AI was coming along nicely and would soon be made available greater for users. Initially, I was pretty skeptical about this idea especially when you look at what is happening with AI's right now from big well-known companies. After reading more about how it worked, I have a pretty solid understanding of AI from work, I started testing it out on some things and was shocked at how well it performed!
Over the next few months, Brave's team continued to work on Leo including partnering with additional LLM providers giving users the ability to choose one or the other. The performance of Leo, as I tested it out with more tasks and research, continued to blow me away as it was quick, reliable, and most importantly privacy-preserving. Funny enough though last week I did make a mistake and forgot to fully write down part of a conversation I had with Leo over some work-related stuff and since it does not save chat logs I wasn't able to go back and get the answer and had to work to figure it out!
Brave's team just announced the newest additions to Leo and as someone who deals with a ton of documents outside of work, I am in love with what these additions are! Leo can now interact with PDFs and Google Drive Files! As someone who likes to read research papers for fun, I might be a little crazy I know, Leo having the ability to help extract the topics and explain them is a huge leap forward! While my work does not use Slack workspaces this is also another area Leo can assist in along with producing transcripts from YouTube videos!
It is absolutely amazing to see how Leo has progressed and how quickly and safely the Brave team has been able to develop and deploy these improvements! When Brave first talked about Leo I figured it was just another chatbot even when they said it was going to be more. The team has even said that coming soon is Leo integration with GitHub which I know my coder friends out there are going to absolutely love!
