The history of cinema begins with people's curiosity about the appearance of light and movement. In 400 BC, the Chinese toy 'harmonikia' showed a moving scene as a result of the figures formed by light following each other. A more advanced version of this tool, the 'zootrope', was invented in 180 AD. Zootrope is a device that allows the figures to move by quickly moving the pictures on the strips placed on them. The foundations of cinema were laid in the 19th century. In 1826, Joseph Nicephore Niepce invented photography. Later, Louis Daguerre improved the quality of photography and commercialized it. In 1878, Eadweard Muybridge made the first consecutive display of photography in his work The Motion of Horses. In 1895, the Lumiere brothers made their first cinema show.
In this demonstration, a train was filmed arriving at a station and people boarding the steam locomotive. With this show, the art of cinema was born. Development of Cinema Cinema quickly gained an important place in people's lives. At first, silent films were shot, but in 1927, a talking film appeared before the audience for the first time with the film "The Jazz Singer" starring Al Jolson. The technology of cinema has also improved. Color films began to be shot, and widescreen cinemas appeared in the 1950s. In the 1970s, Dolby Stereo was introduced to provide better sound quality. Today, cinema is watched by millions of moviegoers around the world. Thanks to cinemas, DVD and Blu-ray, online streaming platforms and other media, movies are now coming to our homes. Cinema remained not only a form of entertainment, but also became an artistic, cultural and industrial activity. Hollywood, Bollywood and other global film industries have a business volume worth billions of dollars.
Effects of Cinema Cinema can have different effects on people. Viewers can be inspired by the stories told in movies, feel different emotions and even put themselves in the shoes of the characters. Additionally, cinema can be used to gain knowledge on a particular topic. However, the effects of cinema are not only positive. In conclusion, cinema is a form of art and entertainment that has an important place in people's lives.
