Humans and Language

Humans are inherently social beings, and throughout history, communication has been at the core of our interactions and advancements. From early forms of written language to the digital age, our methods of communication have constantly evolved to meet the needs of an increasingly interconnected world. In this write up, we will explore how chat interfaces have emerged as the most compelling interface for crypto and web3 applications, offering a gateway to widespread adoption and innovation.
Text-based communication, or digital messaging, has transformed from its humble beginnings as a simple means of sending short written messages to a multifaceted platform encompassing multimedia, emojis, and even artificial intelligence-powered chatbots. Its evolution mirrors the trajectory of communication technology itself, from the emergence of SMS in the 1980s to the proliferation of messaging apps and platforms in the 2010s.
One of the key reasons why chat interfaces are poised to become the most compelling interface for crypto and web3 applications lies in their accessibility and ubiquity. Unlike traditional web interfaces or mobile apps, which often have various complexities for instance; navigation through complex menus and buttons, chat interfaces offer a familiar and intuitive user experience. Most people are already familiar with messaging apps, making them an ideal entry point for engaging with crypto and web3 services.
Moreover, chat interfaces leverage the conversational nature of human communication, enabling seamless interactions that feel natural and engaging. This conversational paradigm lowers the barrier to entry for individuals who may be intimidated by the technical complexities of crypto and web3 platforms. This is where Dialect comes to play!.

Dialect

Dialect, a web3 company with its foundation in the Solana ecosystem, strives to unlock the full potential of language; the cornerstone of human coordination and action, by harnessing the power of web3. Dialect being on Solana in itself has its advantages, as Solana is known for its high speed, and cheap transaction fees making it a good option for developers and users at large.
Dialect released their initial Product, a powerful and exciting messaging mobile app, where users can mint cNFTs (Compressed NFTs) in the form of stickers, use these stickers to chat in groups, and trade among themselves further fostering the community and NFT use case and driving adoption.

The Dialect Operator

Now, Dialect is here with a Game-changing Product the “Dialect Operator” which harnesses the power of chat for crypto trading. Dialect currently chants the tagline “crypto, at the speed of speech”.
The Dialect Operator exists with a seamless interface inside the Telegram app. Using Telegram is what one would consider a very noble approach, this is because Telegram is already largely established, and telegram also has an intuitive interface in itself. Also, with the rise of trading bots in telegram, It feels like the perfect time and the perfect product even more so that this is not the typical telegram trading bot, Dialect takes it a step further by using natural language to facilitate transactions; this high-quality level of abstraction can drive usability and adoption which is highly commendable.
Team work makes the dream work as Dialect joins forces with PhantomRaydiumJupiter and Birdeye and Tensor to power the dialect operator.
Dialect Operator offers an intuitive way to trade tokens directly within your Telegram app. Whether you prefer using natural language, commands, or their convenient multimodal interface, Dialect Operator simplifies the process.
Let’s explore the Dialect operator in full.

Getting started with Dialect Operator

Getting started with Dialect operator is quite easy, simply message @dialectbot on Telegram on mobile (android and ios) to get started and follow through. Dialect Operator is definitely coming to Telegram desktop pretty soon. stay tuned!. Of course, you need to use your phantom crypto wallet, since we would be trading crypto anyway. Here’s what the initial flow looks like in the image below:

You message dialect bot on Telegram, you connect your wallet, and utilize the friendly operator interface.

Use the “/buy” command to start the process or use natural language

Similar to “buy”, use the ”/sell” command to start the process or use natural language.

While they both express information, the token view is more personalized as it shows your current position, You can also set token alerts (receive notifications on price action) from your token view, all this is done in the operator’s modal structure.

Very soon, you would be able to trade collectibles using the operator.

Other things coming soon are:

  • Secure: Dialect does not interfere with your keys, it stays right there in the Phantom wallet.
  • Zero fees: It’s completely free, Dialect charges nothing! Zilch, zero!

Innovative exploration for Dialect operator

  1. How about minting an NFT right in the dialect operator, simply upload/attach the asset. Use natural language such as “mint my NFT”, and Dialect’s operator takes care of the rest.
  2. Trading with FDV or market caps rather than price alone: When trading highly volatile coins, instead of staring at dexscreener every minute, what if the Dialect operator takes care of certain trades for me based on the market cap of the coin.

Consider the command: Sell wif for USDC if market cap hits $1B.

Chat and its role in the future of web 3 adoption.

X (formerly known as Twitter) may not have been created with blockchain or cryptocurrency in mind when it was founded few years ago, but today twitter amongst many other social media has been a hub and a catalyst in driving cryptocurrency adoption. While there are many niches on twitter, CT (short form for Crypto Twitter) stands out, as this 2022 top trend report from twitter puts crypto finance as number 3.
Many crypto projects have utilized Twitter to drive adoption and gain users for their projects. From airdrops to NFT grinding and whitelisting, to industry-shaking announcements. These days many projects use twitter’s API (Application Programming Interface) to drive engagements and deliver task based points.
Twitter is a multimedia platform, but its foundation sits strongly on…you guessed right…Text, chats, conversations! Like earlier said, Humans are very social beings, and we have an innate desire to communicate.
With the current trends in AI (Artificial Intelligence), we can see that chat sits at the top of facilitating usability. Text-to-image, text-to video, the list is endless.
Web 3 and crypto projects at large should take a cue from this and build products that users find easy to use, let users seamlessly flow through your web 3 product like they would any web 2 product. Let usage of the web 3 product feel natural.
It is also important that web 3 products pay strong attention to accessibility to prevent repeating the same mistakes that web 2 made. would I be able to use my voice to make a swap in the future? Only time will tell!
Digressing a bit, one form of innovation I would love to see is Collaborative Workspaces; Token-gated chats becoming dynamic workspaces for projects. Team coordination and sharing of NFT-based deliverables (documents, media, etc.) being woven into a conversational workflow. [ A novel form of coordination I must say].

Make sure to keep up with Dialect and try out the dialect operator here!
