Times and season
*Sermon Title: "Times and Seasons – Trusting God When Your Clock Feels Slow"*
*Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1, Daniel 2:21, Galatians 6:9*
---
*1. Introduction - Lagos Traffic Principle*
If you’ve lived in Lagos, you understand times and seasons. 5am to Berger: 20 minutes. 7am to Berger: 2 hours. Same road. Different _time_.
Life is the same. God isn’t slow. You’re just moving in His _season_, not yours. *Ecclesiastes 3:1* says: _“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”_
*2. Point 1: God Controls the Clock, Not You*
*Daniel 2:21* - _“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings.”_
Joseph was 17 when he had the dream. 30 when he entered Pharaoh’s palace. 13 years of pit, Potiphar, and prison. The dream was real at 17. The _time_ was 30.
Your mates are buying cars. Getting married. Japa-ing. Your time feels like it’s on airplane mode. But God’s wristwatch isn’t wrong. He’s not checking your mates’ time to set yours. He changes seasons, not compares them.
*3. Point 2: Every Season Has an Assignment*
There’s a _time to plant_ and a _time to harvest_. You can’t harvest in planting season. You’ll uproot immature blessings.
David was anointed king at 17. But he spent 13 years in the bush fighting lions, bears, and Saul. Why? Because the palace would have killed an untested king. The wilderness was his training season.
If you’re in a waiting season, don’t just wait. _Work_. Paul wrote letters in prison. Jesus grew in wisdom and stature for 30 years before 3 years of ministry. Your "delay" is development.
*4. Point 3: Don’t Miss Your Season By Comparing*
John 21: Peter saw John and asked Jesus, _“Lord, what about him?”_ Jesus replied, _“What is that to you? You follow Me.”_
Corn doesn’t envy cocoa. They have different seasons. Cocoa takes 5 years to fruit. Corn takes 3 months. But both feed nations.
Your season will come. *Galatians 6:9* - _“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”_ The key words: _due season_ and _do not give up_.
*5. Closing - Discern Your Season*
Noah built in the dry season for the rainy season. Esther fasted in her season to save a nation. Jesus wept in Gethsemane in His season before He conquered in His season.
Ask yourself: What season am I in?
- *Pruning season?* God is cutting to increase fruit. John 15:2
- *Planting season?* Sow in tears, reap in joy. Psalm 126:5
- *Waiting season?* Those who wait on the Lord renew strength. Isaiah 40:31
*Altar Call:*
Maybe you’re angry because it’s someone else’s harvest season and your planting season. Release the clock to God today. Pray: _“Lord, I trust Your times and Your seasons. Teach me what to do NOW in the season I’m in.”_
Because when your season comes, 13 years of delay can turn to overnight promotion. Just ask Joseph.
