Consider a hospital using AI to support a treatment decision.

The AI receives laboratory results, medical history, current medication, clinical observations and applicable treatment protocols. It recommends a course of action—but the recommendation alone is not enough.

The hospital must also understand:

Which evidence influenced the recommendation?
Which alternatives were considered?
Were contraindications and institutional policies respected?
Did the evidence change after the decision?
Can the exact decision process be reconstructed later?
