F**K Fascism & everything that leads to it | $NOFASCISM
We live at a time when our freedom and way of life is threatened by those who would have our wonderful progressive societies descend into the horrors of fascism (like so many countries around the world).
All for the sake of the already rich and powerful getting even more rich and more powerful.
F*** that.
It's not beyond imagination Australia could go down this path. This is never a straight path for any country. It's a slow eating away at our freedoms and democratic ideals that leads us there.
Be on the look out for the signs, and be prepared to stand up for what you have and for what those that come after you will have.
The Nutters Among Us
"Inside the broader far-right ecosystem, where conspiracy theories often serve as internal policing, the NSN has been accused of being “controlled opposition” or a “psyop” run by the state. Even Liberal Senator Alex Antic echoed the idea in Parliament, calling the group “straight out of central casting”. In which case, the group’s decision to unmask its members may in fact be less about courage or conviction and more about credibility — an attempt to prove, both to their enemies and their allies, that they’re real.
Whatever drove the unmasking, the consequences will outlast the headlines. Dozens of men have now tied their faces and futures to neo-Nazism. There’s no easy path back from that. Australia now faces a troubling question: how far will these men go to achieve the victory they’ve gambled their livelihoods on — and what can we do to stop them?"

"One of the key questions that emerged during proceedings was whether the Trains had carried out a terrorist act because of new evidence about their mental state.
Deakin University’s Associate Professor Dr Josh Roose testified that the act was consistent with a terrorist attack motivated by the apocalyptic branch of Christian belief, premillennialism.
In contrast, clinical forensic psychologist Dr Andrew Aboud told the inquest that the trio’s primary driver was a rare psychological condition: a shared delusion disorder. Fuelled by bizarre beliefs about COVID-19 conspiracy theories, the Trains believed they were under siege and at spiritual war with “demons” and “devils”."

"Pauline Hanson does stupid stunts like this to distract you from her voting record.
Culture wars are a distraction. Division is a distraction.
Ignore her when she says she fights against the “elite”. She is one of them.
Stay. Focused."

It starts (and ends) with the military
"From Australia’s perspective, the Ukrainian surrender proposal is a stark demonstration of two things. The first is that reliance on the United States is now reckless, even foolhardy. Ukraine faces its “very difficult choice” because without US assistance its capacity to continue resisting Russian aggression is limited. It is not a question of US military forces operating in Ukraine, but the continued provision of US materiel and information that is in question. While Australia doesn’t, and is very unlikely to, face a similar existential invasion threat, we are, like Ukraine, highly dependent on US materiel and intelligence. Critically, in relation to our submarine capability, we are fully reliant on the United States to provide us with a stopgap force of submarines until the new SSN AUKUS vessels become available, most likely in the late 2040s or 2050s."

“A Washington Post investigation found that the former U.S. Navy officials have benefited financially from a tangle of overlapping interests in their work for a long time ally of the United States. Some of the retired admirals have worked for the Australian government while simultaneously consulting for U.S. shipbuilders and the U.S. Navy, including on classified programs.
One of the six retired U.S. admirals had to resign this year as a part-time submarine consultant to the Australian government because of a potential conflict of interest over his full-time job as board chairman of a U.S. company that builds nuclear-powered subs.”

Authoritarian regimes are actively targeting democracies
"In September, Gill pleaded guilty to eight counts of bribery - admitting he took money to promote pro-Russian narratives inside the European Parliament.
Eight counts. Not rumours. Not speculation. Criminal charges."
