DePIN. New name, big narrative.

So today's post is about my DePIN projects, now DePIN is the buzzword for Decentralised Physical Infrastructure Networks, sounds good eh! Some of the projects included in the DePIN sector are shown in this image from https://messari.io/assets/depin
5G, wifi and IOT networks, mobility and data mapping, file storage and computing networks amongst others, so the DePIN umbrella covers a lot of projects. DePIN requires physical infrastructure such as vehicles for mobility networks, solar panels for energy networks, hotspots for wireless networks, and servers for cloud networks.
The DePIN projects I am directly involved in are Helium, WeatherXM and Wingbits (We swapped from Defli to wingbits after we were not allowed to dual mine).
NODLE
The NODLE network also comes under the DePIN category , David has been using NODLE for a lot longer than me, it is free and we have actually taken some profit, selling some tokens at just under $0.01 per token. Not bad when it costs us nothing.

HELIUM
As I often write about how badly my Helium miners are performing, well they are still performing badly but it is slightly disguised by the fact that the token price has gone up. I am earning approx 1000 IOT tokens per day from 6 miners, 1 is currently not working. David is earning slightly more with his now 6 Helium miners, 1 of his was converted to Defli.
So currently between us we are earning around $4 - $5 per day (Our son has 2 miners and is still HODLing HNT and IOT) As we can't trade IOT we can convert it in the wallet via the Jupiter dex into either HNT or SOL, we have converted ours to mainly SOL.
Have I ROIed on all of these miners? I honestly don't know for sure as I would need to fire up the old laptop and go through the spreadsheet but if I were to guess I would say yes.

WEATHERXM
Well I was really early in this project, so early in fact that I did wonder if we would ever get to mainet but there has been an announcement that mainet will be in mid. February. The weather station has been on the roof and sending data for over 16 months now.
The WXM has now changed to the Arbitrum Sepolia testnet (was on Polygon Mumbai) in preparation for the mainet launch on Arbitrum. Our allocation of BETA rewards will not be calculated until we know exactly how many station hours we have provided data for but we have an estimate of around 750 tokens. Now from mainet every day that we send 100% data we will receive our BETA payment daily over 360 days but you have to send 100% good quality data. As it is unlikely we will get 100% every day the runway for BETA rewards is extended to 425 days. Over those 365 - 425 days we will receive our airdrop as 1.76 tokens to 2.05 tokens daily.
It is still quite exciting and I will look forward to seeing how this project goes in the future. We also have no idea what the token price will be when it goes live but I guess by not airdropping our BETA rewards in one drop it will reduce the price impact of quick selling off of tokens.
Now as DePIN is one of the 'narratives' of the season there are new projects popping up every day, but I have not looked into any of these.
There are also a few DePIN projects that I do have tokens for (even before I knew they came under the DePIN umbrella!) including ALEPH and GRAPH so it will be interesting to see what they can do.
I will try and do a post on Wingbits when I can. It is a very new project but it looks promising, doxed team, AMA's, funding and working socials again it focuses on airplane data using the SDR, Raspberry Pi and antenna.
