Bluesky Social

If you've been watching the decline of twitter / X recently, a question that's regularly asked is "what next"?. While the launch of Meta's Threads looked to be a viable contender for a while, the truth is that no one has been able to capitalize on the decline of X by providing a similar experience.

However one contender that also gets a good review is the app Bluesky Social. A decentralized form of twitter that is in beta / invite only mode at the moment Bluesky is still shaping up to be incredibly popular.

Bluesky Social is not just another social media platform; it's a vision for a decentralized and user-centric network. Spearheaded by a team of forward-thinkers, Bluesky Social envisions a future where users have greater control over their data, interactions, and overall online experience.

Features That Set Bluesky Apart

  1. Decentralization: Bluesky Social is committed to decentralizing social media, giving users more autonomy over their data and content.
  2. User-Centric Design: The platform prioritizes the user experience, focusing on intuitive design and features that enhance rather than intrude upon your online interactions.
  3. Innovative Tools: Bluesky Social is not just about connecting with others; it's about empowering users with innovative tools like advanced privacy settings, content customization, and more.

Beta Testing

Due to the projects early launch status it's important to understand that Bluesky is in test mode. While the platform still works, some features may be limited and as we mentioned earlier you'll need an invitation code to join the platform.

However the Bluesky team regularly pushes new code and features to improve the user experience. So it's reasonable to assume this will continue as the project grows, which will lead to a more user friendly experience.

It's better to opt for a SocialFi platform, but it's worth exploring and trying out new platforms.

Thanks for the interesting share, I think more similar project will emerge in the future. We might look at twitter as friendster. Not sure if you are familiar with that. haha. I'm not even sure if friendster is ever global. 😂

Thanks @Investigator515 for you article. A principle of the market economy: Don't touch the logo and there will be too much censorship on Twitter. Therefore it is ok if Twitter disappears from the market.

Bluesky could be possibly alternative to X or more better experience then X , it will prove by time but in the race of social media it looks promising and vibrant.

Got an invite to BlueSky just the other day. They've obviously opened up the platform a fair bit then as I first put in for that at least 6 months ago. Honestly Twitter is so janked these days. I really do wonder how broken is too broken for them to recover from... I think the future of social is things like Discord and Facebook Groups (hugely successful in-app app for Meta). Anything that allows for highly aligned communities to form and meaningfully interact. In that sense then maybe something like Lens Protocol is the perfect solution with their constellation of social apps idea. Still a great experience is hard to beat regardless of tech. Social media is all about content. Whoever pulls in and keeps great creators will be a winner.
