Van Persie Watched The Match Between MU vs Aston Villa Live, Will He Return?
Former top striker Robin van Persie watched Manchester United's comeback against Aston Villa live at Old Trafford. Does Van Persie want to return to work at MU?
Van Persie watched MU catch up with two goals before winning 3-2 in the Boxing Day match, Wednesday (27/12/2023) early morning. The former Dutch football star watched the match with his wife and family.
Van Persie's presence gave rise to speculation after the purchase of some of MU's shares by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Van Persie, who currently coaches Feyenoord's youth team, is said to be part of the club's overhaul.
However, Robin van Persie emphasized that his arrival at the stadium was not due to business but rather a sentimental matter. As is known, Van Persie once scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa to win against Manchester United and lock up the 2012/13 Premier League title.
"Obviously, it's a bit of a coincidence because I'm here with my wife and friends," the 40-year-old told MUTV before the match.
"When I saw the schedule I was like if I could choose that match, I would choose the match because it is definitely about the memories we have against Villa," continued the former Arsenal player.
"It was one of the most special nights for me personally as a Manchester United player. Villa are doing well this season, so this match was fun to watch," said Van Persie.
