Excuses

I’m reading a memoir 
And only one thought crosses my mind 
Can I pen down my thoughts? 
When will I be bold enough to tell my own story?

I don’t mean surface stories 
Or mediocre excuses for stories 
I mean a story with depth 
Something that not only shows transparency but gives the reader the confidence that they are reading something authentic 

Everyone fine tune their stories 
That’s why when you read a person’s autobiography it just ends up being another novel 

People have found a way to write about themselves in an eye catching way 
I need to pause to feel the depth 
I need to feel it like the gospel 
I need to know that the person is telling it as it is 

Or maybe they are just mere excuses I give so I won’t have to deal with penning down my life and how I have lived.
